I too think Magee's book goes into more detail although I prefer Schabacker's writing style. I'm lucky to have a local library here that has a decent collection of market books. I believe as a donation by a family that moved here from New York after the old man retired from a big institutional firm.
Agreed. In my mind, I had specifically wanted to keep this discussion to the players here at ET that we all know, and my frustration was that you can only provide details outside of ET which isn't all that useful when people come here for help, and when some people here choose to help in a very limited way, yet those aren't the same people who provide this proof/verification. (Its like if you want to get some sort of cosmetic surgery done, and the plastic surgeon's board approves some sort of procedure. In no way does this mean the doctor you choose is adept at performing this procedure, just that the procedure is valid, but what you really want to know is if this doctor has really good results from his patients that he does this procedure on. Likewise, surely there are tons of profitable retail traders out there, but what we at ET would like to know is if those who hang out at ET are profitable) Well you seem to be posting so much here lately, so I figure that it must be a great place to hang out! Why would you after all spend so much time here if this wasn't such a wonderful place? This reminds me months ago of how DbPhoenix would go on and on about how horrible ET was, along with some of his followers, and yet they couldn't stop posting here! LOL (Interestingly enough, I am almost 100% certain that he is still here under a different name. He writes so well, which is difficult to cover up, and the content that he writes about, threads that he participates in, forums that he visits, timeline of his new name, etc., so many things match up precisely. So ET clearly is a wonderful place to hang out. I honestly don't think there is any forum out there for trading that is busier than ET.) I even tried to make sense of the advice you gave about stocktwits, but I see its only an app, and I was looking for something on just my computer so I'm not distracted. In fact, you kept saying how many great traders there were out there who make calls, who use Wyckoff, who trade behavior, but instead of being helpful by actually naming a source or even linking to one that you thought would be worthwhile, you just replied with not so helpful generalities. Edit: In fact, that is my one frustration with you. If we were walking down the sidewalk and you saw me collapse while clenching my chest, you would give me advice on how I should have eaten less fat, exercised more, etc. as opposed to dropping down to start CPR. Your advice is too damn general and not all that helpful in the moment!
First of all, I'm not able to read minds. Secondly, maybe I'm stupid but I didn't know this thread was about specific individuals you have a problem with. In addition, stocktwits is a social media. To say its an app is kind'uv weird. In addition, I don't have to do your research for you. I've never done it for anyone else. Seriously, read my posting history carefully here at this forum. For example, someone recently ask me for a link to a list of Universities that have trading rooms and offer classes in trading. My reply was to use Google. If you can't do your own research, that's not my problem. Nothing personally, I'm just not here to help you. With that said, you can now enjoy your conversation about dbphoenix or anyone else you have problems with because its my choice not to have a conversation about them and I didn't come to this thread for such a conversation. Like surf said, ET = Entertainment If I need trading advice or looking for a more professional trading community...I am elsewhere. ET isn't the only place in town and Google is an excellent research tool. Last of all, if you ever bend the truth again about something I've said to you...I will put you on ignore. Be very careful about doing that again. If you think every trader on this planet hangs out at this forum...ooouuch.
I can choose to reply to a message however I want. You always seem to choose to want to tell me how wrong I am. Do you ever think this is a useful reply? Or perhaps it makes your day to be less than useful to someone else? Seriously... if you feel the request was too silly to warrant a reply, why waste your time to even suggest google? You're just as silly with your advice as the guy might have been with his question. Wow... just wow. First of all, I wasn't bending anything. I was big enough to admit that I was intending to just be talking about ET folk. Its a simple misunderstanding, not a case of bending the truth. Second, do you think that you not replying to my posts will somehow rob me of something useful? Hahaha... I bet the guy who got told to use google really needed your help! Ok... thanks for the warning. I will be extremely careful going forward as I wouldn't want to lose such an amazing resource.
FYI---- elite is known as the "wall street's gossip site" for a reason. Clearly, I have obtained massive, life changing benefits from posting on here, but that took some effort and doesn't change the perception of the site. with that said, good night everyone! surf
Oh.. and one more thing. Refer to the posted picture below which is a screen capture of the stock twits website. Notice the circled areas... two links to download the App... and a picture of a cell phone, which is used to run apps. What do I know.. maybe I can install it on my PC, but it sure looks like an app to me! A couple of months ago in my journal I was asking for help with my data feed. I had two amazing suggestions. One was to add the average bid/ask line onto my charts along with the bid/ask spread lines which was really helpful. The other suggestion was that with the combination of Sierra and IB, I could set the platform to download very accurate 5 sec bars in addition to the realtime feed, thereby negating the need for me to spend money on a better feed. Imagine if those guys just told me to go to google and type in "data feed problems".
I just log directly into their site...no app needed. Thus, I didn't need to download anything. Its just a website link @ http://www.stocktwits.com No prompts to say download. Just click on the "sign in" in the upper right corner or register. Maybe they're advertising "another" alternative way to stay in touch. Not unusual. For example, I know Baron is considering such. If he does...I wouldn't go around calling Elitetrader.com an app.
How right you are! That wasn't so hard.. was it? What threw me was that they wanted me to sign up and all that jazz. I figured why the heck do I have to sign up if I just want to read posts. But alas, I took the plunge and signed up. Now of course I just have to find someone useful to follow....
If u are looking to follow someone, have u tried collective2 or profit.ly? Verified results and you choose the strategy u like best. Way wiser than pure social media. Good luck. Surf
You can not get your way. I have not been of any type of a resource to you especially when I've consistently been "general" with you in an effort to see if you're lazy or if you have the ability to use Google. You'll be surprise how many folks don't use Google and come to Elitetrader.com and ask questions like... 1) What's a future 2) What's a pattern day trading rule 3) Who is Linda Raschke Come on...please just Google it. It's all there because I'm not going to respond with a 10 paragraph explanation when Google has it all. All someone needs to do is the following... Click @ http://www.google.com and then type in the topic title in the search and then click again. Research is a big issue with me and its a learning tool. Today, my son was watching a documentary about Astronomy. He then asked me what is a "light year". I turn the iPad on and told him to Google it and told him to read it out loud to me. He did and learned a lot. I highly recommend you spend more time on Google instead of requesting to be spoon fed. It really is a good learning tool and many schools have it as their "home page" in their computer room. I guess that's a hint. He was specifically told that once. He didn't seem interested. Now I know why after these recent conversation with him...he's only looking for ET members and not resources outside of Elitetrader.com
