There is only one survey (Doran) showing that 75 out of 77 self-declared climatologists beleived "that human activity is a significant factor in changing mean global temperatures". This is the source of the 97% that the climate change promoters push all the time. Unfortunately they ignore that a total of 3,146 scientists returned the survey - and the real result is nowhere near 97%

Is 77 individuals even statistically significant? No.

And there is no other survey showing anywhere near a 97% consensus even across a small group.

Are really so clueless as to think the temps have suddenly plummeted? They have stayed roughly the same at the highs on the chart. The essential facts of this chart remain.

Remember, this is key, CO2 is a greenhouse gas. This is irrefutable.

I keep asking this but no-one can seem to answer. How could rising CO2 levels NOT lead to higher temperatures?

 

For info about the level of scientific consensus on global warming. It is overwhelming. And that's because CO2 is a GHG and it's levels have gone up due to man and so have the temps. It's pretty basic common-sense stuff. It doesn't take a rocket scientist.

the recent studies show greenhouses gases moderate temps.

they block sun energy from getting in and water vapor locks some heat into the earth.

Plus co2 is only a very small part of greenhouse gases and man made co2 is only a very small part of the co2 number.

Historical co2 lags temps.
so why they hell would anyone think co2 is having a significant role? Its all just a guess.

“0.3% climate consensus, not 97.1%”

PRESS RELEASE – September 3rd, 2013

A major peer-reviewed paper by four senior researchers has exposed grave errors in an earlier paper in a new and unknown journal that had claimed a 97.1% scientific consensus that Man had caused at least half the 0.7 Cº global warming since 1950.

A tweet in President Obama’s name had assumed that the earlier, flawed paper, by John Cook and others, showed 97% endorsement of the notion that climate change is dangerous:

“Ninety-seven percent of scientists agree: #climate change is real, man-made and dangerous.” [Emphasis added]

The new paper by the leading climatologist Dr David Legates and his colleagues, published in the respected Science and Education journal, now in its 21st year of publication, reveals that Cook had not considered whether scientists and their published papers had said climate change was “dangerous”.

The consensus Cook considered was the standard definition: that Man had caused most post-1950 warming. Even on this weaker definition the true consensus among published scientific papers is now demonstrated to be not 97.1%, as Cook had claimed, but only 0.3%.

Only 41 out of the 11,944 published climate papers Cook examined explicitly stated that Man caused most of the warming since 1950. Cook himself had flagged just 64 papers as explicitly supporting that consensus, but 23 of the 64 had not in fact supported it.
