One of my areas to improve for 2012 is not to trade counter trade unless some REAL VOLUME shows up taking out resistance. DXY with A up, 6e , ES, TF etc.. with A down along with negative market internals were there all day long to guide a trader. my last trade of the day was at 12.20 pm short from 99.92 and cover as usual early at 99.62. It was a RISK OFF day.
When " All the stars line up" set up. There is a reason I call mark Fisher a GENIUS. One can wait all day to short at ideal resistance zone or let failed A up set up with market internals guide the way.
CL up 8.25% YTD (lol). CL moves 8% every week. I am happy day trading CL. No swing trading CL for me.
Actually, CL had some monster swing moves this year. We went from 85 to 115 in one move. Then from 115 down to 75 in a 40 pt monster move on the Aug sell off only to rally from 75 back to 103. If you add in the weekly trades, honestly, there was probably over 100 handles to be made this year with very little heat on the swing moves. Here is the thing about daytrading vs swing trading. With daytrading, all your focus has to be on that one product. With swing trading, you could have made the 100 handles in CL plus traded swing moves in 10 other products since your focus does not have to stay on that one product. Not trying to say one is better then the other. Just trying to provide the other point of view.
