"RN, thanks for the notes. There really is a lot of material on this thread. I also completely respect your stance on intellectual property. That is VERY rare these days. I had a rather lengthy thread similar to this one on rape reading listed stocks several years back. And someone told me that some prop firm actually copied all the notes from that thread and gave it to their new recruits to learn tape reading. I had mixed feelings about that. " From Maverick74. I am not sure I understand the concept of " Intellectual property" here. All of us share our thoughts in this public forum to help ourselves and whoever else wants to benefit from here. I have just started reading this thread from the very first post. I am taking notes in the process. It will be quite selfish of me not to post those notes in this forum and ask other readers to go post by post on their own in the name of " I am not your stenographer" or these are Maverick74 post and ask him for copy. Someone may still want to read each post on their own as i could easily miss some points. If maverick74 or any other author does not want his/her posts to be shared then they should be taken out from the forum. I do not want to accused of sharing posts with others after the fact when the whole idea of posts is to have as many people learn/share from these as possible. Hopefully as members read Maverick74 posts some new ideas will come to their mind and they will share. My only obligation is to give credit to original author of the posts and not to misrepresent original author thoughts. Asking members to take their own notes of something which I already have take down ( only 10% so far) seems contrary to the SPIRIT of this thread. If protection of " Intellectual Property" in this case means that original author needs to be financially paid for his/her posts, I am all for it as long it is made clear by the author.
I guess my concern is that if you start rotating stocks, you might have a serious run of bad luck, whereas if you stick to the stock that works for you, you will understand it's personality, and you will do better in the long run. There will, and should be days when you take no trades.
Let me step in here. Mav is sharing stuff he does not have to share. When he does share it, it does become part of "public domain". I don't think the intent is to say that intellectual property is being infringed upon. I think it is a case of "giving credit where credit is due" Just sayin.
Yeah, that's right. I thought it was a nice gesture by redneck. As I said before, I found it a little bit odd that someone took my previous content from ET and used it for a "commercial" purpose. Again, it's public domain there as well but that was not cool. I share this stuff here to build a community around ACD. I could sit in a corner and trade by myself, but I like the company here.
MFB I saw the requests as back handed The notes are predominately (not all but mostly) Mavâs They are his thoughts, his knowledge â so why not go straight to the source and ask Besides once they left my possession and moved into his, he is free to do with them as he sees fit â so why ask me I also hold that there is benefit in doing due diligence â when learning And I respect your opinion RN
when the mkt spy/es is down more than 2% intraday, be extremely careful about looking for reversals up, if you must try to catch one you should widen your stop, and reduce position size. Conversely having to trade when the mkt is up or down .50% is a great way to get chopped up. These two factors alone will increase your profit margin. If you backtest most trend systems long term, the chop eats a substantial amount of your profits. Wide stops get hit sometimes due to volatility but being all in and wrong on a 5 standard deviation move will take you out of the game permanently. Don't overtrade, the worst habit of every beginning trader. You newer guys piss me off when you bitch about missing a move, that kind of thinking will end you. Put skew is very real and there for a reason!
Thanks for clarifying. I could have assumed that you meant this but did not wanted to assume as "Intellectual property" has very specific meaning. CHEERS.
Let me put it this way. A few years back, when I took the information out of the "Logical Trader" book and created an ACD mentorship program, I flew to NY and offered Fisher a cut of the fees even though I had no legal obligation to do so. Since it was in the public domain and I owned the book. I did it out of respect for him. If I was going to take his information and monetize it commercially, I felt a duty to at least offer it to him. I have no idea what someone would do with the content RN put together. It would not surprise me if someone tried to package it and sell it. I think if someone were to try to monetize that content, I would like to speak with them first. And being the gentleman I am, I did the same for Fisher.
Of course. I am only talking in terms of if i have taken notes , i feel that in the SPIRIT of this thread, share with other members. It's already there, why make other members go through the same process if one has already gone through one- that's all. I just wanted to make sure, re-posting of someone else posts for the sake of ease of use and more importantly to get some different discussions going- will not get me in trouble.
Here is a chart of cl got close to 103.50 reversed hard consolidated and screeched all the way back to 100 before taking a breath, if you wanna trade that without a stop be my guest. You have to see both sides of the trade.
