  1. Just curious about 2nd market to watch... i traded gold back in the day.. swing traded.. but never really daytraded... searched and searched for prop firms trading gold.. and couldnt find anything. i know they usually like thicker markets for scalping.. some trade CL..
I used to like CL but then found its choppy and bounced around.. 15 tick stop is nothing sometimes.. any thoughts on GC? (my main vehicle i watch is NG)

GC is the worst market on the face of the earth to trade and I'm being awfully kind. Swing trading sure, but daytrading? Give heroin a try. :)

  3. Well thank you, there's nothing wrong with me then. I had one good trade in GC recently, the short to <$1200, but otherwise I generally stay away. All my ACD stuff doesn't seem to give me an entry into the clean moves I need for my style of trading.

  4. Silver seems to work better, for whatever reason.

When I first attempted gold I lost money very quickly, it can be quite volatile.
It took a few months to get the hang of it. It moves fast even from an EOD perspective.
I persevered only due to the fact ASX here is loaded with gold stocks, it has now paid off but not before needing to do lots of groundwork.

Silver can be more volatile than gold.
Downside for ASX 300 traders is we have no dedicated silver stocks, silver is mined by diversified miners. There could be small speccy stocks but I steer clear of those types.

  7. I've only ever traded the metals, not the miners. Silver has greater industrial use than gold which is very sentiment driven. I have a trading style I'm comfortable with, a mix of global macro with constant monitoring of data and the techs I get from ACD and its derivatives.

Sentiment driven moves render my ACD stuff meaningless. I didn't trade all this past week because every day was data or CB heavy. Binary events, ACD cannot give you direction before the fact, so I just stay out.

In percentage terms, the miners gain and lose far more than the indexes.
However leverage of the indexes would probably compensate.

  9. Gc is by far my most successful product I have traded. I find it is the most predictable especially with my ACD tools I'm using now. I'm just a 1 contract guy though so maybe it is no good for bigger accounts. I actually find cl to be the worst despite its volatility.

  10. Do you day trade or swing trade?
