See, I think where you live is a third-world cesspool. You can post all the pretty pictures you want. Here's one of Medellin that isn't so pretty.

We can all find nice and crappy pictures of any place on Earth for the most part. Don't come to Tampa, I know the rest of us here are just fine if you stay away.

So you accept that an astronomical level of spending will push yields, and therefore you have to accept that smart spending and control of budgets will also do so in the opposite direction. The subjective argument is how much, which is where everyone will disagree with each other.

Defense is currently on the docket. The rest? It's been four weeks. Give it time. Think of all the bullshit posts you can make in the meantime.

  4. Well it was December and the issue is whether incoming administration put pressure to approve it since they were replacing the top brass or was already in the pipeline with Biden.... we will never get that info but this is the point we are all screaming about.

Not trump trying to reduce government overspending or waste but basically bulldozing over the rules and killing entire agencies rather than auditing so the good goes out with the bad (don't feel bad for any red states losing funding because this was warned), he brings in a foreign national with no security clearance or Congressal approval to get access with no clearance AND no review of conflict of interests. AND trump already took 3 actions that clearly single out Musk desires or funding so the call that musk is pulling strings is not unfounded (like when trump echoed everything steve bannon wanted).

So the fucktard who makes billions from government contracts in competition with others is now in charge of deciding government contracts and cuts and getting his partners absolved of billions in fines?

Cmon..nobody voted for musk and every red hat voted to drain the swamp. Instead trump as he typically does, takes an I can do whatever I want attitude and helps his friends and fucks the voters.

What happens when musk goes.to DoD or moves on to attack the judiciary (trump appointed judges finding against him)? We should all be scared of a trump with no limits and musk in his ear. No matter how incompetent Kammie appeared, this alternative is looking worse as we are seeing pages from the fascist playbook... destroy the free press, punish those who speak against you, remove limits on power, lead by executive order and move away from Congress or constitution, label a common enemy (DEI or immigration), etc....

The things is, the nice parts of Medellin are recently full of people from Florida. So that barrio is more appealing. I was in one, these ramshackle houses often have really high quality tiling and fittings but also poor people 80+ inch TVs.

Yeah, no. That's what he started with other stuff. It's about the illusion of cuts for the cheap seats.

  7. Panama has mosquitoes if you go into the jungle but being in the city for 27 years I can count the number of mosquito bites I have had on both hands...and I rarely use Off or repellant. Mosquitos don't move very far from bodies of water so their range is affected by that and most places in the concrete jungle rarely have them. Near the coasts and rivers yes. There were 2 dengue outbreaks in my 27 years and caused by dirty construction sites with trash everywhere and standing water.

Therefore I can believe Medellin which is at higher altitudes does not haVe a mosquito problem. Dengue comes.now from human negligence in trash and bejng filthy. But many of these places do a good job of resucing outbreaks. Especially when temperatures drop below 75F..they don't like cool weather a d hiking up a volcano in Guatemala you can literally feel the mosquitos disappear as the temps drop and humidity is gone. But medallion being mountains only gets it in summer.

San Blas has the most postcard picturesque islands in have seen same as Phuket/Polynesian. But at night sand mites and mosquitos for sure.

Ok, well you can believe whatever you want. There are many articles out there that expressly talk about the mosquito issue in Medellin. Wouldja like some?

As for "mosquitos" tending to be in jungle and places where there is stagnant water - holy shit, really?

I swear, you guys just love to argue about every little thing out there. Now we're fighting over who has the most mosquitos, with it becoming a partisan issue, if you can believe that, with lefties lining up all together. Lets see how long before the folks on the right come in to argue against it.

Its called "The city of eternal spring", perhaps summer, though there are signs of climate change, two wet (not that wet) and two dry seasons every year with the occasional el Niño / la Niña wobbles.

There's hardly any wind, just thermals moving air in the valley. A very rare 'tempest' literally once or twice a year which is thirty minutes, but the same might last near week in northern or southern latitudes.

The humidity reads high on a meter but the lower barometric pressure alters this as drying clothes is very quick.

That's said, being a valley with millions of people and a million motorbikes can bring stagnant pollution issues sometimes. I have several large MERV 16 filters which make the air pristine in the evenings, air moves tidally here and fortunately we get the city back wash when we would close the windows anyway.* Not a problem up higher on the valley walls though or on the plateau above.

    * due to moths, we do get quite a few attracted to lights. My wife hates them, don't bother me.

Tampa is flat land. The heat and humidity is inescapable, though one of my three visits was tolerable. Zika fears got people here on point to deal with stagnant water a few years ago, as much as that was a problem.

Tampa is a very like it or hate it place, Florida is generally.

Anyway, I'm here because of the wife, her family. Given a choice, right now I'd be at a family home in Ireland enjoying the miserable weather out the window or at my place on tbe beach on Mozambique for the southern hemisphere season.
