The real 'problem' is there's no magic bullet, yet there's the continued perception that there is and the pursuit of it at any cost. Trading's like anything else - success is generally a result of discipline, patience, having the right tools etc. Sure a few people get rich quick, just like in other ventures. But far more people flame out in pursuit of it. Success is possible but never assured.
Patience may be THE magic bullet really. Could do something crazy like wait the 15+ years between the major market crashes, stockpiling cash the whole way. Then buying at the bottom.
To use a gambling term, it's important to know when to 'stand up from the table' too. Goes back to the comment about discipline.
Having losses after a couple months is not the same as blowing the entire account, and on that note I can assure you I have never blown any of my accounts. Declines are not the same as total losses.
Umm... I have a client who has returned 45% on a $25K account since he went live on March 10, 2011. And if I clear a prospect as having an appropriate skill-set and background, he can contact and interview him independently. Ask him whatever you want. Swing trading futures spreads. Your opinion is flawed and without merit - trading frequency does not necessarily equate to better net returns. In fact, the shorter timeframe regimes are crowded to the extreme. As the bot space becomes ever more crowded, the returns continue to compress.
no doubt about your background as you post reasonable things. i didn`t say anything about frequency,i said but "more oportunities".how frequently is up to anyone, but bots do provide some decent oportunities even nowadays. know nothing about futures spread trading btw,and actually don`t want to research something new.maybe in the future, who knows. good trading!
Snake, your point is spot one... comparing futures returns to equity returns is not reasonable. Having said that, you would be shocked (pleasantly surprised) at how modest the max drawdowns are with a well-designed futures spread trading strategy. Food for thought.
Bone,i didn`t compare futures with equities either I was saying about "futures bot trading".Let`s look at the 6E for e.g.,bots are willing to give away, during the "normal" off hours flow, approx.3-4 points net.I do it, no problem - a penny make a pound, you know this.8 to 10 points - rarely, but still exists if you are able to spot bot`s acceleration coordinates, they like to do this, occasionally. It`s like bot vs bot, sometimes i feel like a bot myself. It`s all so funny,sometimes.. Like i said, i do not know anything about futures spread trading, but i do agree that,if a well-designed futs spread trading strategy has modest max drawdowns, definitely worth the efforts.
