Mall operator Simon Property Group Inc has been in talks with Amazon.com Inc about turning some of its department-store sites into Amazon fulfillment centers, The Wall Street Journal reported https://www.wsj.com/articles/amazon...rs-11596992863?mod=searchresults&page=1&pos=3 on Sunday.

The two companies have explored converting retail space formerly occupied by J.C. Penney Co Inc and Sears Holdings Corp into Amazon distribution centers, while in some cases, Simon and Amazon explored buying out occupied space from the retailers, the report said, citing sources.

Simon's discussions with Amazon have been under way for months and began before the coronavirus pandemic, according to the report.

It is possible that the two sides could fail to reach an agreement, the report said, citing the sources.

Simon and Amazon did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

Interesting turn, being under the umbrella of someone like AMZN is a good news indeed.
    Way better than :
,, Simon Property Group is negotiating with Kodak, for turning some of it's malls into medicine distribution centers''

    ;D

Few weeks ago, even had a thought of amzn buyin them out. That was like a random shower type of idea and look how events unfolded.

    Thanks for update.

Amazon has to do something with all that money.
Buying top notch land is certainly not the worst thing they can do.
Sometimes you have to take a longer perspective.
Bezos (or the people immediately under him) is (are) very shrewd.
    Make no mistake.
Prime U.S. land is where its at for the long haul. We're not going away and the world will march on. Covid's a blip.

    Always thought so.

I think you will be fine, as long as that population growth curve, won't flatten, but even if it does, or more likely - once it does so, the disruption of unqualified work & qualified (e.g lawyers - are disappearing), will be kicking in so hard, that the capitalism will face the challenges from all fronts.
Great to see, states ,,fighting'' with each other, over lower taxes, to attract new comers, like from California > to Florida/Texas.

But not only the capitalism, - socialism and whatever that is in china or arab states, they will have some big time challenges too.
