Drawing trendlines is not trading Jack, and don't they look marvelous AFTER THE FACT... thats why nobody in Spyder's thread is making money and you are still paper trading
Cool thanks for posting the chart. If you feel like it post something that shows something. The annotations on the chart are there to help you and they are not trades. I am just guessing but your chart doesn't look like it made any trades at this point. Did it? Put up a 5, 13, 6 MACD and I'll annotate it for trading using MACD calibrated to today's market.
Read my lips Jack.. you cant improve on Appel.. all your fiddling does is compromise accuracy.. all indicators are a trade off between smoothness and speed ie: accuracy and false signals.. add to that the fact that the majority of traders do actually use and react to the standard settings and all yours will do is take you out of the game You'd know all this if you were a trader in practice rather than just theory
Dolly, excuse the interruption, I didn't realize you all were having so much fun over here, but what is the time scale of the charts you posted showing the efficacy of the Stoch? Thanks.
Thanks, man. I'll put it up and watch it. Never been much of a fan of stoch, perhaps because Jack advocated its use years ago. Got time for a serious question amidst all the fun? Why 2 minute? Long time ago I dicked with 1, 2 and 3 and settled in on 1 for the clarity of drawing trend lines and for the speed of identifying bounces off of S/R.
It's the old smooth versus speed conundrum.. 2 minute MACD is a perfect balance for the emini's.. many pro's use the 5 minute but the best looking girl might be already taken at that party.. good for stocks though.. but emini's are a specific beast Put a 6 period triangular (simple if you haven't got it) with 1+ offset moving average on the chart and look for anticipating zero line crosses and MACD crosses supported by the zero line
Thanks. Sounds like it's close to my fastest alpha filter estimator, which is equivalent to an 8 period EMA. E-Signal doesn't do triangular, so I'll have to code it up. Don't get me started on five minute. The Jack thing again. If you don't look at 15 minute, you might try it. Pivots tend to work there in a fast moving market. And they don't in time frames on either side.
