Well the Vikings did not come to distance lands to trade -- they came to raid and steal. It is likely that their first contacts with native Americans would not go well.
I'd like to visit the "Vinland" / Newfoundland site of L’Anse aux Meadows some day. It may be that "St Brendan the navigator" got there before from Ireland but that was just a quick round trip lacking physical evidence, just an account that matches what would have been seen. I've been here a few times to Fenit, the believed departure point.
