The Prop 30 tax increase is retroactive on income taxes, so the results are going to be mostly known by April 15 of next year. Since I'm not intimately familiar with the California budget, I can only guess as to whether or not Prop 30 will balance the budget. And that guess is FUCK NO. When they say that the money goes to education, what they really mean is that it will go to meet the state's pension obligations of unionized teachers. And since those obligations are rising faster than the Dems can raise our taxes, there won't be a balanced budget for many years to come.
