Target expands beauty offerings for women of color Female entrepreneurs are behind the eight new cosmetics brands – most of which are geared toward women of color with medium to dark skin tones – soon to be in the beauty aisles of Minneapolis-based Target. The lineup of 150 products includes everything from bright lip colors, fake mink lashes, bold eye shadows and an expansive range of foundations at prices ranging from $9.99 to $24.99. Target expanding, remodeling toy departments at 60 Southern California stores Make way for the toys — lots and lots of toys. Target is moving quickly to gobble up the void left by Toys “R” Us, which went bankrupt earlier this year and quickly shuttered all of its stores. The Minneapolis-based retailer announced Tuesday, Oct. 16 that is feverishly expanding toy departments at 500 of its stores nationwide, including 60 across Southern California. A company representative said of the 60 Southern California stores, 30 will get department expansions and 30 toy section remodels. (Orange County Register)

Target wants to build a media business to rival Amazon Target Media Network is now Roundel, as the retailer guns to remodel its ad business after Amazon’s. The retailer announced the rebranding at its first NewFront presentation on Thursday. According to president Kristi Argyilan, the rebrand signifies a shift in resources to the retailer’s in-house media company. Roundel will power those ads as well as ads that appear on a curated list of publisher sites in Target’s network, on TV and across other channels. (Digiday)
