Today has been a lot slower for me then yesterday was. I just have not felt as confident, so have been much slower, only have given three alerts. Here are the charts.
The above chart is of a trade I had in Citigroup today. It's everyone's favorite kind of trade- you know the one you get into, then stop out of- then it goes. The chart of Citi shows a pretty clear uptrend in place today. Also it gapped up a little bit and did not fill in the gap. Both of these say that it should be buyable on patterns. That pattern came when it pulled back to the 20ema for the first time twards the end of the day. Shortly after the setup the futures began to act very poorly so I got out with a small loss (about 3 cents). Brandon
Not a very active week for me so far, but here are my alerts for the week (the exits on most are the blue except on Tuesday the red resistance was used in the ES and end of day in FISV which I consider to have been the poorest because the market was getting strength in so I warned of the higher risk, so although it has been 7 for 7 so far, the gains in FISV were very small as you can see by the chart): http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com/img/roomexamples/20030303bullflag.gif http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com/img/roomexamples/20030303reversal.gif http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com/img/roomexamples/20030304ESphoenix.gif http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com/img/roomexamples/20030304FISVtriangle.gif http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com/img/roomexamples/20030305KMBbreakout.gif http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com/img/roomexamples/20030305NQtriangle.gif http://www.tradingfrommainstreet.com/img/roomexamples/20030305ESphoenixbo.gif
ES/SPY Initial Entry: 821-821.25/82.67 Secondary Potential Entry: 820.75 Exit: 823.25-823.75/82.84-82.91 This one was based upon the fact that we had had three waves of selling off the highs and coming into mid-day with strong price support at the morning lows. This took quite awhile to follow through so we had a lesson in patience, but the basics for the setup never changed to justify bailing on it although we did move the stop up at about 13:30-13:40 when it started breaking the 5 minute 20 sma to protect against a potential bear flag had it continued to base. Target was the 15 minute 20 sma with a 823.25 exit (traded up to 823.75 out of after exit alert). On a risk scale of 1-10 (10 as highest), initial entry was about a 6 with second possible entry on 2B setup as about a 4.
I will be starting my class on trading multiple timeframes in the ET Chatroom in about 30 minutes. Brandon
I missed the breakout to go long early in the day and as the NQ formed a bear flag and came into a resistence area I took a short, and a stop of five points. After that they had 2 of Osama's sons, then none, then one, then maybe none again plus the UN, so I didnt do anything the rest of the day because I did not think I could really have much control over my risk. Brandon, you wrote (at your Thursday's class), that you made 300K in 2002 trading. For me it is incomplete information... It would be interesting to know, for me, total newbie, how much money did you trade for this gain. Thank you. I.
I think a good trader can expect to make 5 to 10% per month. One of the mentoring programs I have lasts one year, and I do not get paid unless the trader reaches the pre-set monetary goal we set for them. Generally this will amount to a 60 to 90% return on their account. Smaller accounts can get much higher % returns then bigger ones in general. Brandon
