  1. I read somewhere that America's corn harvest supplies 40% of the world.

  3. Excellent idea, yet since they do not believe in creating wealth, only stealing from those that create it....

  4. If your data are accurate, that is just another reason the blue states should be happy to be rid of the red states. Not only will they be able to live in greater harmony and without the threat of people owning guns, they will reap a fiscal benefit as well. Talk about win, win.

You should be begging us to secede rather than threatening us. Of course, there will be the matter of finding someone to protect you.

  5. Threatening? Where?
I'm merely pointing out that the red states are not nearly as self-sufficient as their blue brethren, as shown by the fact they go running to the Feds to solve merely local problems, and don't generate enough revenue to pay for those Federal gifts.
But as I pointed out before, this is part of how a nation functions. We get food and raw materials from you guys, you guys get a market for your stuff, plus goods and capital, from us.
Recall that this all started with the Texas governor threatening to secede from the Union. Texas is actually self-sufficient as shown by their ratios, which show them contributing more than they get.
So there would be some loss. But honestly, the idea of letting Texas go is extremely tempting, given their principal contribution to the nation in recent history was Dubya, and when I was a kid was LBJ. I don't know what's in the water down there, but somebody really oughtta find out.
Also, it would give us a buffer state between us and Mexico.
Damn, sounds better and better, I have to say...

  6. Texas is a good state but I have to agree, LBJ and Bush are the worst in the last 50 years. I don't think Texans should be blamed for that though.

While I live in a blue state - I live in conservative part of it.

I now live in San Diego but I grew up in New York and Greenwich Ct and went to school and worked in D.C.

The major blue cities on the eastern seaboard were constantly in debt and begging the Feds for money.

Now they are begging again. and

California is begging the Feds for money.

Your stat was most likely a stat twisted by a decade of financial fraud. How long will it be before new york goes to the verge of bankruptcy again. California is already there.

I seriously doubt the blue states will be paying more then they suck out in the next decade.

As you said your stat my be skewed by military spending. Which in my mind makes the who stat bogus.

I have trouble believing southern states get more handouts than D.C., New York, Phily, L.A. and all those under cities on the eastern seaboard.

That stat is very very dubious.

  9. I truly admire the ability of you guys to completely ignore the simple fact that the Northeast built its own infrastructure, as I pointed out, while the South had a lot of its built for it by the Feds. On top of that, that infrastructure is still being maintained by them as well.
Just for icing on the cake: FDR modeled the TVA after the New York State Power Authority. Most of the states served by the TVA are classified as red, of course.
Doubtless, their folks go on all day and night about them damn socialists in DC. Because, you know, they might tax them for, well, I suppose for the Federal services they benefit from.
But I suppose that really wouldn't be fair.
