Many persons here have stated, in essence (literally in some cases), that it is the "tit suckers" who are ruining the country, because they get to vote, and they invariably choose politicians who will give them a tit. All those people, and according to some estimates they number in the tens of millions, if they could not vote, that would change America radically for the better, don't you think?
I smell some campaign contributions to Rep. Lavender form a Texas light bulb manufacturer who doesn't want to invest in infrastructure to comply with the new laws.
Here is a true story for all you lovers of big government and bureaucracy. I get an 1st class FAA medical exam and new certificate every 12 months, normally late July. Part of that exam is an EKG forwarded electronically to the FAA in real time. Several weeks ago I got a letter informing me the the FAA has in effect lost my EKG. Keep in mind the letter was written almost 10 months after my last exam. Meaning simply it took them 10 months to figure they didn't even have it. It gets better. In the letter the FAA warns that if they don't receive a new EKG withing 30 days my 1st class medical will be downgraded to a 2nd class medical. Now here is the funny part. 1st class medicals are only valid for 6 months to begin with and automatically downgrade to a second class after 6 months. So they're warning of an impending downgrade 4 months AFTER it's already automatically downgraded. (I only need a 2nd class to begin with) Keep in mind these are the same incompetent buffoons tasked with public air safety.
No "GE" plants in Texas now.....obama's GE pal Immelt will be pissed they can't PUMP their SCAM new shit toxic (and waaaaaaay overpriced) light bulbs!!! http://articles.latimes.com/2011/jan/22/business/la-fi-obama-immelt-20110122 SCREW obama and his GE pals CON JOB light bulb regulations!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know that it should be $2MM, but property owners in general would be a good start. Actually, if you PAY taxes, you should get a vote.
And if you don't pay taxes? What would stop people from saying your vote's worth is directly proportional to the amount of taxes you pay?
Similarly, I forgot to ask him if it's ok for those on unemployment, who pay taxes, to vote. And what if we went to a consumption tax, or a flat tax on all, as some are advocating...
In 1790 only White male property owners had the right to vote. Things went downhill from there! http://www.infoplease.com/timelines/voting.html
It ain't who is doing the voting, it's who we're voting for. Let's see, we can choose the standard Tweedledee or Tweedledum, waste your vote with a third party candidate who has no chance, or maybe just write in a name choosing another exercise in futility. Then they wonder why most people just stay home. And the mighty Texans show their in your face individualism by protesting light bulbs, as the ghosts of the Alamo hang their heads in shame. D.C. should be in flames and political heads should be on spikes. We're a country of cowards, me included!
