California cops who are trialing Teslas ahead of ban on gas vehicles say they are 'nearly unusable' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ng-Teslas-ban-gas-diesel-nearly-unusable.html
"The study found that Menlo Park cops 'appreciated the acceleration, steering and vehicle speed compared to the hybrids and remaining gasoline-only patrol vehicles.' But, it said, 'the Tesla presented challenges due to the small interior space, "smart car" features and low vehicle profile limiting maneuverability (eg jumping curbs, off-road use).' It also said that the partition separating the front and back seats reduced the available space up front - where the center console, light controls and communications tablet are housed." Four things here. 1) These cars weren't designed to be cop cars. 2) If Gavin demands EV's neeed to be used for public safety, Rivian makes a van that has a higher ground clearance and more room in the back available to be modified for however many street thugs the Menlo Park cops want to incarcerate in one fell swoop. And that includes running over curbs ("curb jumping")in the process. 3) CA cops don't arrest people anyway. Allegedly. 4) It's like Biden pulling the military out of Afghanistan first. The last people in the world that need to go green with vehicles are the friggin' cops. --->Duh. Bring back the Crown Vics and make California great again.
Tesla delivers Q3 earnings beat as margins improve; shares surge Investing.com Wed, October 23, 2024 at 5:13 PM EDT 1 min read In This Article: TSLA -1.98% Investing.com -- Tesla reported Wednesday third-quarter results that beat Wall Street estimates, driven by improved margins and said it expects to achieve "slight" growth in deliveries this year as the electric vehicle maker looks to put the 'EV winter' in the rearview mirror. Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) was up more than 8% in aftermarket trading. For Q3, the company reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.72 on revenue of $25.18 billion, compared with Wall Street estimates of $0.60 a share and $25.4B, respectively. The bottom line was boosted by a rise in automotive sales to $20.02B from $19.63B a year earlier and stronger margins. Gross margins excluding credits, a closely watched metric, (cough, cough) rose to 17.05% in Q3 from 14.7% in the prior quarter. Tesla's energy business, meanwhile, achieved record gross margin of 30.5% in Q3 as strong Powerwall deployments offset lower Megapack volumes. "Energy storage deployments are expected to more than double year-over-year in 2024," the company said. The EV maker's services and other business grew gross profit over 90% in Q3 year-on-year, the company said. Looking ahead, the company said it expects to achieve "slight" growth in vehicle deliveries in 2024. The more sanguine outlook on deliveries outlook followed a bumpy period for the EV maker as concerns about demand and competition in China weighed, pressuring its shares down 14% year to date. Tesla also said that preparations to launch new vehicles remain underway and continues to expects to roll out more affordable models in the first half of 2025. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tesla-delivers-q3-earnings-beat-202704415.html
It may be a bad analogy (in your opinion), but the underlying premise is 100% right. The cops need IC.
regardless, i have 245 covered calls expiring december, hope i can book some premium without rolling to next year.
Well, try not to get distracted, that's not really the point I was trying to make. We can debate the Afghanistan clusterf*ck down in politics if you like, but the CHP, and every other state's troopers, and their county sheriff's/deputies.... they should probably be driving IC's until a more appropriately designed EV can be produced. Ford should jump on it. But the existing TSLA models aren't the answer.
