Take off your blinders for 2 seconds... Tesla has the highest margins in the volume auto manufacturing sector (taking Ferrari out of the running) AND Tesla Energy is ramping up ($403M gross profits, 24.6% gross margin) and may possibly surpass Tesla's auto manufacturing profits in the near future. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tesl...panys-next-big-earnings-driver-100040150.html
LOL and that is why its stock price is still nearly half of what it was almost 3 frickin years ago. ... and it could be .... Once a fan boi always a fan boi.
I think the share price is dropping because early shareholders are selling out of frustration with Elon Musk, his politics and some of his company decisions. This Electrek article sums up how many feel (including me) about the direction Musk has taken Tesla. https://flip.it/m13Etd
100%. Musk has been bigger than the stock itself for at least 12 months. Need something to reassert his genius and mend his reputation. Yes,Im looking at you RoboTaxi!
Ok so they sold, which means (for every seller there's a buyer) they were only willing to buy at ... at lower, lower, lower valuation. Now if you accept that, while sales/revenue are going growing how do you explain it without considering margins contracting (yes, yes albeit highest by any auto manufacturer nonsense my dad can beat up your dad)?
Except before yesterday's big drop, along with everything else, price was only down about $30 from same point last year (while it is down $200+ from ATH). If some much of the headwind can be explained away by Musk snewz shouldn't it be a lot lower?
In my opinion, the FSD rollout will be extremely limited. From the gossip I've seen, they are working hard to map out specific areas in LA in great detail, likely hoping to do a Waymo version where there won't be a driver, so fully autonomous, but in a very limited area. I imagine they will be stuck at this stage for a while and eventually the hype dies down again. There is just no way that with cameras only, the technology can be safe. Rain and a sun low on the horizon have been stated even by Tesla as being tricky. So the current version of FSD will never be robust enough to handle all driving conditions. I think Elon is just buying time, as always, hoping for a miracle.
