If the upturn holds,Van will have done well on his 174 call. I think 175.71 was the low. @vanzandt All depends whether EM was happy with that level.
Oh don't I know lol. To be exact, $175.01 was the intra-day low. And boy did I let a (somewhat) whale buddy of mine have it... because he said I was crazy, TSLA would never get that low. It was $255 at the time.
It REALLY needs to hold this level though, with super-strong volume, or else we might have to pull out the pencil again. It's a crucial level to be sure.
I'll give you this unusual thoughtful reply Lower prices lead to lower margins, that's basic. But Tesla has a load of cash in the bank and Musk is less interested in pleasing shareholders today than he is about gathering data for exponential returns in 5 years time. I've never liked Tesla's constant price fluctuations and think they'd be better off adjusted annually instead. Their JIT pricing algorithm is pointless. But Musk is right, the Chinese are hyper competitive and Tesla is the guy to beat. The BYD Seal is a copy of the new Tesla 3 and sells in Europe for USD55k while the 3 sells for USD52k. Tesla has the advantage of having a factory operating in Europe while BYD doesn't, and is bound to benefit if Europe imposes import tariffs. I think the declining stock price is less balance sheet than Musk personality and antics, including a fair amount of short manipulation. At this point I'm holding tight, looking for a return to 250 before Q end.
Tesla is the worst-performing stock in the S&P 500 this year Worse than Etsy. Worse than Boeing. Simply the worst https://qz.com/tesla-worst-stock-performer-musk-1851227426

I note this:-- + + + The report comes after CEO Elon Musk warned sales growth would slow this year despite price cuts that have already hurt margins at the world's most valuable automaker and fueled investor concerns about soft demand and Chinese competition. + + + But don't they know its those darn short sellers manipulating the price, even though PE is still mid 40's or higher lol. For reference AAPL is at 29.
