Yeah, he still owns about 10% of the company though. I have followed BYDDF for quite a while now. I remember when Buffett dumped his DAL stock in 2020, he said "We never lighten our positions, we either hold it all or get rid of it all." Well, he's lightened Boyd about 10 times now. So he's either senile or Berkshire is changing the way it does things. Probably a little bit of both. Regarding Boyd, one of the reasons it can't get over $30 and hold, it's a pricey stock on a fundamental basis. I mean it's valued higher than TSLA, last time I looked at least. That new Seagull... so that thing is like $12K US? That's pretty cheap. It must be stripped down. Does it come with airbags or seats at that price? BYD Seagull was unveiled and started pre-sale on April 18 with a pre-sale starting price of RMB 78,800 and received more than 10,000 orders in 24 hours.
https://licarco.com/byd-seagull Of course it has air bags. Strip down it must, given it only has 74 horse power, and 251 miles range, it is an inner city car. i'd say it is better than Mercedes Smart. GM killed Bolt, and sells more expensive EV. Why is that?
I was being sarcastic. It's too bad EZ-Go and Club-Car aren't publicly traded (i don't think)--> short short short. Warren should have BYDDF making/importing street legal golf carts to the US. If they can build a 75 HP EV for that price, imagine what they could do with golf-carts. Ya know, 75 HP is respectable...I think the Ford Pinto was about 75 HP. Now these things... I haven't been on the links in a while, but I bet they don't have airbags. At least they have safety glass and 3 point seat belts though. -->$11,893 (* VZ side-note: I rolled a golf-cart once... long story )
Off topic but I saw Buffet interviewed the other day and it was less than auspicious. One of my favourite guys to watch over the years but yes,I would be inclined to lighten my position in Buffet Inc.
On topic,Tesla is my first outright share purchase ever.Bought 3 or 4 days ago. Just a thousand dollars but at least you guys can have a real investor to make fun of over the next few months. Long term investment,I acknowledge next 12 months could be a bumpy ride. I also think Amazon is a good buy but I'll keep you updated on that one.haha
Golf carts are street legal in Arizona. They must be registered and have the proper insurance, and are restricted to a maximum speed of 25 mph and only on roads with a speed limit of 35 mph or less. You also need a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart in Arizona.
Sounds like the Chinese are very good businessmen to corner the market, 1000 bucks profit margin, that's just insane, tell Barra that.
