Interesting perspective and worth contemplation. One of the more intriguing things I've read for a while.
I gotta admit... I love the whole concept of... and the super-super-incredible challenges it presents... of fully autonomous vehicles. My little brain when driving now evaluates everything from the perspective of how difficult it will be to code the entire decision making process required for a self driving car. Ok so earlier tonight I'm pulling out of a parking lot turning left onto a 2 lane side street off of a busy road and there's at least 3 cars behind me. Its rush-hour, ya gotta make a move or you'll never get out. Up stumbles a staggering drunk on the sidewalk to my immediate left, and he is an arms length away from me. Homeless, whatever. Not the point. Now he's gonna cross the road, maybe. Or maybe not. He acts like he is... but then he doesn't. Thing is... if he steps off that curb as I gun it between cars to make the left... I'm gonna hit him. How the hell does AI handle something like this? I have to believe if I was riding in a fully autonomous vehicle... I would have sat there forever, road rage in the cars behind me in full blossom had this man chose to just stand there and mumble about aliens or conspiracy theories or whatever. The ability of a computer to figure this stuff out without just stopping the car for an undetermined amount of time fascinates me. I don't think it can be done. Not until everyone has a 2-way chip in their brain. This stuff is still decades away imo.
It can't. Tesla is a dog, take it down. And if they make any announcement that they have a prototype for an autonomous flying car they are seeking approval for? Jesus, Lord Almighty, the world is fucked. And people thought faulty pedestrian collision systems were bad on road cars. MuHAHAHHA! None of them have ever flown, like, an aircraft.
Tesla has an early access program but it has funny rules along the lines of their is no fight club...but perhaps there is video evidence of a certain car sans sitting owner hitting a mailbox and other evidence just short of fooling said owner a 2nd time. Mailbox was near a driveway, not a roadway. The other day it rained so hard the skies were black. Having only ever twice before used summon...I cautiously watched my car as I navigated the grocery store parking lot, the car came to me, I stayed mostly dry. Neat trick, it worked that day. Spaced lands rockets on the ships on waves in the ocean, who da thunk that was possible? AP handles some things very well. Took a 800 mile week to get comfortable with the features. I do not understand AI Left to run for itself the car drives politely, like you would tell your kids to drive, how you would drive with a pregnant wife, not how I drive when alone, the car never guns it
