Well I had a relatively small sample size in four years probably thirty applications from Amercian guys, we didn't even consider any below some level of special forces as you did need to be physically excellent. Mind you we took a few ex-British and French army guys who were from regular forces but they were well heeled guys who had old family/empire connections to Kenya and such. I can't say I remember anybody from Delta applying, certainly they would have more lucrative offers and possibly would not say they were Delta anyway. There's a lot of psychological in the job, you need to make very little capacity seem to be everywhere, at once. The main difference between regular soldiers and the specials is I guess that regular are just nominally soldiers, the US over-venerates this, the Brits and French set a better example in my opinion. But I guess that's because they are trained for peer and near peer fights with less safety margin.
Someone has probably mentioned this already, but the "black flag" you see in the picture is a police jacket, or possibly an FBI jacket, which is literally covering up an ISIS flag underneath. Not sure how we came to know there was an ISIS flag underneath. Somebody must have leaked it, despite the attempted cover up.
If this hasn't been mentioned already... "Terrorist" is, speaking politically correctly, a euphemism for Islamic attack, since there aren't too many other groups in the world that fit the definition since the Irish stopped bombing the UK. It's a politically correct way of including white US nationalist men (MAGA) as potential suspects, while continually appeasing Islam. Anyway, the mosque in Texas where the Islamist attacker went to pray has apparently asked journalists to direct their inquiries to CAIR (Council for American Islamic Relations) for answers. Apparently, the Islamic attacker was born in Texas, and even served in the military, but was radicalized according to his brother. In other words, he started taking his brand of disgusting racist faith more and more seriously, where he ended up being a regular Muslim. No doubt he was inspired by the recent Islamic attack at a Christmas fair in Germany. Apparently the FBI knew about the ISIS flag on the truck when their first spokesperson announced that this was NOT a terrorist attack. I guess Islam, and it's sub sects such as ISIS, are not terrorists, according to the FBI.
US authorities seemed reluctant to pronounce Bourbon Street, New Orleans as a terrorist attack. Same BS from UK police after the Southport attack in July. In Southport, 3 children were stabbed to death and 8 others plus 2 adults wounded. Merseyside Police arrested the perpetrator, a black Muslim of Rwandan origin, at the scene and announced almost immediately that they were not treating the attack as terror-related. This was obviously a BS public relations announcement with no basis in evidentiary fact. The perpetrator was later found to have been manufacturing ricin at home and possessed ISIS documentation, and has now been charged under terrorism legislation. Shocking duplicity by the authorities, who have lost public confidence and are now covering their backs lest this be widely recognised.
Half the USA was radicalized into electing neofascism, proof enough that with the right approach, even the most stable-seeming moral scripts can be flipped. If you can destabilize individuals or groups, you can lead them to embrace almost anything. Authorities need to resist the lazy tendency to classify every act of violence as terrorism simply because it’s frightening. True terrorism isn’t just random violence; it’s a sustained threat with a clear agenda. Throwing the term around carelessly not only muddies the waters but also undermines trust in those trained to handle these issues with nuance and expertise. The public might loathe those who refuse to indulge in broad-brush narratives, but precision is essential. Without it, we risk turning fear into policy; and that’s a win for actual terrorists. The USA became the everything is scary country in the 1990s with Murdock's Fox and Fiends, CNN 24 hour news didn't help, talk radio before this to an narrower demographic. I need to know whether an attack stems from a mentally unstable individual absorbing stochastic terrorism material from the ether, or if there are direct channels with clear involvement in orchestrating it. It is unwise to inflame anger or fear in those who lack much capacity for reasoned judgment. But communication can usually be better.
Agreed. The situation is deeply concerning, and the potential involvement of active-duty military personnel raises serious questions about oversight and accountability. Sharing disciplinary records and other critical information with law enforcement could be a crucial step in preventing such incidents in the future. Livelsberger's family agrees as well wrt the bomb, "The uncle also told The Independent that he was "a skilled warrior who would have been able to make a much more sophisticated bomb."
Actually it is an ISIS flag that got wrapped around the pole during the attack. You can see a small portion of the ISIS text on the flag in several of the pictures.
It's long overdue for the U.S. to start cracking down and closing these extremist mosques -- which have been tied to every Muslim extremist terrorist attack in the U.S. -- and start quickly deporting the extremist leaders of these mosques. The cleric at the mosque attended by the New Orleans terrorist stated that "non-Muslims are worse than animals." These extremist mosques are pretty open about their hate. The terrifying history of Islamist extremism at New Orleans terrorist Shamsud Din Jabbar's local mosque https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...errorist-shamsud-din-jabbar-local-mosque.html There are already MAGA TV hosts calling for the shutting down of all mosques in the U.S. -- which I do not support. Not all mosques are extremist mosques. The U.S. should target the mosques with known histories of extremism -- seeing that most of these extremist mosques are openly bold about their terror supporting pronouncements. My mom, a former resident of the Trump International Hotel downtown Chicago...she was curious and decided to walk several blocks from her new residence to the Trump International Hotel. She Facetime with me and I saw about 30 Chicago police officers nearby the Trump International Hotel...some officers were standing at the corner on both sides of the bridge, standing at the corners of Michigan avenue, and about 5 - 6 officers inside a building across the street that looks like an Apple's electronic store with huge glass that has a decent view of the front of the Hotel. https://news.wttw.com/2025/01/02/ch...trump-tower-after-explosion-outside-las-vegas She said the last time she saw that many police officers in a block radius was when the Magnificent Mile area had looters in the 2020 riots. My last visit in that area this past summer with my kids, police swat teams and water rescue teams were practicing on the Chicago river below the Trump International Hotel...pretending they had hostage taking situation. Since then, there has been a growing number of incidents near and inside the Trump International Hotel. https://wgntv.com/news/chicagocrime/ohio-man-21-charged-after-swat-incident-at-chicagos-trump-tower/ wrbtrader
