No, because you are here. Politics is knee deep in autistic spectrum disorder + adhd (both sometimes ).

Hyper focus on narrow topics of interest vs. just wanna express something but no actual knowledge as can't really learn to any proficiency.

The difference is everybody on the left here who are in it are educated and aware enough to know.

I'm certainly not trying to fix anything, I'm introducing you guys to the idea in a more gentle way.

I figured you would be the first.

Not too late iirc. When I resubscribe I get "my" books back. The minimum of one month would suffice, if that tool works. ty

  4. Finished the book yesterday, although I didn't read the notes. Quite thought-provoking. I like the social media's Marie Antoinette "let them eat cake" reference: let then be present. :D

Also, I like the how-to approach to achieving flow: do one thing (meaning no switching or so-called "multitasking") that is meaningful to you and at the edge of your abilities. Although it's intuitive upon reflection, it's still nice to see it stated so succinctly. It's elegant in its simplicity.

And I keep coming back, again and again, to the compelling comment that "life begins at the edge of your comfort zone." That's a keeper.

Well said. The chapter on flow, and the comment, are high points.

  6. Thanks. But I found it sobering how manipulative the various social media's algorithms are, and what a significant effect they can have on people's lives and political discourse. I thought it was more of a natural process of like-minded people finding common ground online and the resulting effect of that. I had no idea of the practically intentional radicalizing element in the algorithms, and the conscious effort to keep people online despite the disruptive effect it has on their lives. It's nothing short of predatory.

Yup. I had heard of the manipulative algos in passing, never thought much about 'em—I suppose I thought of the apps as more natural, organic, as well. Shock is closer to how I felt learning about how deeply engineered those things are and, of course, it's always for the sake of profit, the public's mental health be damned.

The free market, rational actors, etc., it's all on us to manage the consumption of products, so we're told, but I just read how deeply social media is harming our kids' mental health. Kids aren't rational actors (if those even truly exist) yet.
