Yeah, they awarded the BKK telco concession to a large chicken meal and shrimp farming conglomerate. TIT (This Is Thailand).
Note how the replies are dispersed 70:30 which roughly corresponds to the 80:20 split for data outage ("SOME" clients may experience) and market depth problems. Could be reflective of developed/undeveloped locations or coincidence, or?.
I have a suggestion regarding webtrader. Once I found that you cannot login to webtrader and TWS at the same time using the same username (account) . I suggest that IB make it possible that one can longin to both webtrader and TWS using the same username( account) This can save us a lot of time if you find TWS disconnect and want to close positions or place other orders through webtrader. Is this possible ? I do not like to close positons through HK helpdesk, please make webtrader work more convenient.
Is the server of webtrader located in US , not in HK ? Currently the ping time to wt1.interactivebrokers.com is very similar to the ping time to gw1.ibllc.com ( IB US trader ), both above 2000ms, very slow to open the webtrader page. (Actually unworkable ) Does IB have servers for webtrader in HK ? BTW, currently IB HK TWS server (gw1.ibllc.com.hk ) is working fine for me, ping time 40-160ms , though I had some disconnections during the past two years. But when TWS disconnected, it was a nightmare. I understand what mokwit had said. I think connection is more important than avoiding the loss of data packets. For example, if I try to place an order, and that order is lost during the internet transmission, then I would not be able to see TWS confirm the placement of the order (by looking at the colour of the order not turning dark blue). And then I could try to replace the order. But if TWS disconnects due to its sensitivity to the loss of data packets, then I can not take whatever actions. I am not computer expert, but I think there is logics here.
IB should add the facility to force reconnect manually as if the auto recoonect gives up you have to shut down TWS and also the stuff being driven from it such as front end and charting. Takes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time whe you are trading HSI. They should also get rid of that reconnect button taking up space on the taskbar. P.S. You are cutting yourself off from 2bn potential clients in China by adhering to your stance on TWS spec vs internet quality. That is something I would bear in mind if I was management. Agree with Joesan about a point I have made before on these boards i.e it is less risky to lose an order and manually act on visual confirmation of a problem than it is to be unable to do ANYTHING while TWS goes through its recoonect routine.
Refco platform is stable and they will deal down to IB levels and below on comm if the volume is there.
