I am going to use all the equity in my account to short the consumer discretionary ETFs.

    Reasoning :
    Housing slump
    Banks tightening
    No more MEW
    Spending has got to drop

Any other strategy for a small retail investor who has watched neighbors spend like crazy the last few years ?

  2. your late to the game.

If I'm too late for the consumer ETF, then what to do ?
What's the next step in the fallout?

I don;t think I'm that late, still plenty of room to drop

  8. Seth, they have an etf for everything now. It's pretty incredible. munebags beat me to the punch.

OP, you may want to do an option straddle instead of a straight short.

Not planning on straight short, def some option play. I still beleive that consumer spending is going to tank.

Thanks for the Sindex info, will investigate.

Just my gut...which has been pretty reliable these past two weeks as I have been long puts on S&P, Dollar and long calls on Yen, Sugar, and Euro.

  10. This ETF has international exposure.
