There are plenty of technical articles available describing how Telegram and other "secure end-to-end encryption" platforms operate. If you are not going to read the readily available material and educate yourself then there is no reason to continue the discussion. You can get back to posting your regular MAGA talking points.

In this French judicial case against the Telegram CEO is there is a multitude of news information in recent weeks leading up to this arrest. Pavel Durov was told he would be arrested if he set foot in France, this should not be a surprise to him or others. He apparently thought the French would not be so bold to back up their statements with actions.

Telling authorities to F-off when law enforcement wants your cooperation in regards to CSAM material on your platform is not very smart. France outlined in requests to Telegram exactly what information they wanted on which particular users -- and Durov told them he had the info and he would not provide it to them.

This is not a case of not disclosing info on political dissidents -- it is a matter of Durov protecting child abusers. The case will certainly be the first test of applying EU and French criminal sanctions against platform owners for hosting a platform allowing CSAM material and refusing to cooperate with law enforcement efforts to remove it.

As outlined earlier -- France will probably limit the scope of charges to CSAM material in order to make prosecution easier rather than casting a wide net for Telegram's support of terrorism, drug trafficking, fraud, and money laundering. Time will tell if this is correct once information on formal charges are officially released.

As a follow-up, let's read what France's Marcon has to say about this arrest.

France's Macron says no political motive behind Telegram CEO's arrest

    Stop trolling.

I know plenty about end-to-end encryption and how these platforms operate. Because of that I understand that Telegram simply may not be able to provide the information that France wants.

In this case it would not be a matter of co-operation. Macron was smart to point out that there's no political motive and that this is a matter of judicial inquiry. The French government needs a better understanding of how the technology works before drawing conclusions.

You, however, clearly have an axe to grind and are now tilting at windmills. Go away :p

Looks like the French prosecutors decided to go whole hog with complicity in child sexual abuse, narcotics, and fraud charges as well as cryptology tool violations -- casting a wide net.

In your judgement the country with three more timezones than Russia, nuclear weapons and currently these intelligence agencies, maybe doesn't know how Telegram works or what data they can scrape?

    DGSE
    DGSI
    DRM
    TRACFIN
    DRSD
    BRGE
    DCPJ
    CNCTR
    SCRT
    SNRP

Probably need a young fella to explain it to them.

Lol, people really think this way and unfortunately it's often misinformed law makers. That's why governments find themselves in a position that leans closer and closer to fascism.

Now grow a backbone and unblock me you impudent rascal... copy/pasting ids is getting really annoying :p

That's a fancy fuss made out of simple statement she made.

Mind you I worked in tech so mere mortals struggling with the nomenclature passes through me.
