Maybe I can get a little trading in tomorrow morning. Still have a lot to do to be ready to leave Monday.
I have things to do but I did manage to fire off one trade. It was almost a loser. And had a big draw down for a scalp. As it ended up i finished with 3/4 profit. LOL. It was trading MES very small size. Made some mistakes. Started late looking at the markets. On the entry made a mistake. Scattered brain today. LOL There are days like these. They will happen. Trading is process and there are times one doesn't follow the process well. These are all learning experiences if one wishes to learn from them. At any rate I thought it good to post a bad trading day. Gotta run. Washing the motorhome. Maybe I can get a few minutes in to trade tomorrow. Not sure just have to see how things go. ONLY 1 TRADE TODAY AND IT WAS A TINY WINNER WITH A TINY PROFIT, TRADING TINY SIZE. BASICALLY A NON-PROFIT DAY ONE MIGHT SAY.
Here are couple of small trades in MES I took this morning. There were a lot more 1-to-3-point scalps that I didn't take, nevertheless the opportunities were there. I did more talking than trading, but my goal was to give some explanations as the trades were happening and as PA was evolving and how I look at that PA. How I trade it or would trade it. Unfortunately, the video recording is like 29 min long. Just too long IMO. I am trying to trade and explain things all the while learning how to record as I trade. IT will get better as I learn more on just when to stop and restart the video. And as I learn how to express myself live. Recording is easier and less work than say annotating a static chart after the fact (or hindsight), but the advantage of annotating static charts is I feel like I can express my thoughts and thinking better and clearer than trying to do it on the fly "live" as in recording. I hope to get better "live" at expressing my thinking and why I take certain trades. My problem is I am scattered brain at times. Definition: The meaning of SCATTERBRAIN is a person who is forgetful, disorganized, or unable to concentrate or think clearly. There are days diabetes does a number on me. That last phrase of the definition is the area diabetes hits me hard. It seems the older I get the harder is gets and the more often seems to happen. At least doing explanations through a static chart I can take my time and think better how I want to express something. But recording is easier than all those annotations. In addition, I don't have a good accent for recording but there is not much I can do about that. LOL Been talking that way too many years. Just to reiterate; I trade this way, and this journal is about how I trade and techniques I use, some I adapted from others to fit my personality and some I invented myself as I gained experience over the years. I am in no way suggesting anyone trade this way. As most of you probably already know a trader can lose a bundle of $$$ in the markets. He can also make a bundle of $$$. I use MES a lot in explaining these techniques, but I am not limited to trading MES, nor do I have to trade super large size to extract profits from the markets I can do this by scaling in and using other techniques. That said there are times I will use size. FOT (Frequency of Trades) is a key element for me as a scalper. Also, high win rate is very important to me, in more ways than one.
Good grief I just now see that my voice was not recorded. All the recorded explanations are in vain. I know I had the mic on in the recording software but for some unknown reason windows had reset the windows mic setting to off in the setting on windows. I am not going to type out all that I talked about in the recording but I give the following short summary. I took the first 6 contract trade on the 5-minute chart in the top half of the channel and covered on a move back down capturing 1.25 points per contract. Actual R:R was terrible but that sometimes happens in scalping. It was fading the top area of the TR betting that price would trade back into the trading range within 5 bars. The second trade was a short scalp 1 point scalp on a 5m chart. The 1m chart I think explains why I exited that trade so fast, if you study it out. I do swap between 5m and 1m perspectives showing what the trades and the PA look like from two different perspectives. The shorter green horizontal lines are what I see as intra-bars resistance/ support are where prices oscillate back and forth give potential 1 to3 point scalps. I was too busy talking to take most all of these. I show these areas in both TF perspectives. It irritates me that my voice was not recorded but I am learning a lesson here. Test the mic out and the recording and make sure it all works properly before I begin recording live trades and explanations. If I have time tomorrow maybe I can fire off a trade or two with a good recording. Sorry about this slip-up. I had more detailed explanations recorded but you won't hear them this time around. I am learning..learning to record. The two trades while they aren't much in MES in terms of $$$ that would be different if ES because 8.5 points were captured over a period of 30 minutes (09:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.)
I may start using my MAC laptop if I can find a recording software that allows me to pause the recording then start it back up. It seems the inbuilt MAC operating system recorder using command-shift-5 doesn't allow me to pause and restart recordings. If any of you have suggestions about this let me know. As you can see, I have not been into recording stuff under either operating system. Windows or MAC. I actually started getting into windows back just as windows was coming out. Actually, started using computers what seems like eons ago on MS DOS for crying out loud! Over the years have never had much need for recording stuff so I never learned how.
You should try OBS (https://obsproject.com/). Unless you already use it. It is free and it shows if your mic is on so you can test it (Mic/Aux under audio mixer. If you unmute it you can speak and see the bar go up and down). You can also unpause and pause via hotkey(you must set the hotkey in the settings) or by using the control panel(right side of Stop Recording double vertical bars.).
+1 Was literally in the process of recommending the same. There are other good options but OBS is free and the learning curve is low.
Both it is open sourced and free to use. I have it on my windows PC and my MacBook which I am using right now. It is probably the best free software currently for recording/streaming currently.
