That might be the issue right there, volpri.

Try recording your screen. I think videotape is far too antiquated a technology for what you are trying to do.

Some of our visitors just left others are still on the front porch but I slipped away to type a brief explanation up. I took two trades over a period of about 1.5 hours (look at the time scale on the screen shot.)

The first trade was a long entry at the bottom of an established TR on a 5m chart. The idea is to fade the edge of the TR and exit on any move towards the middle or the time of the TR. Why fade the edge? Because 80% of BO attempts of a TR top or bottom fail and they usually go back enough for a scalp or a good leg up (in this case since this was the bottom of the TR). So I entered long 1 ES contract @5627. It went against me and I averaged down (or scaled in) another contract @5625.25. Why? Odds are the BO will likely fail so I am fading it. I then exited my initial entry at 5630.25 or a gain of 3.25 pts. I exited my second averaged down entry @5632.25 for 7 points. So at this point after one trade I am up 10.5 points.

MY next trade I shorted 1 contract fading the top 1/3 of the TR @5634.24. I then added two contracts @5637.25. As it continued against me I added 6 contracts @5640.25. Why? Look at the bars between the two averaged down entries. Overlapping bars and alternating bars. Bear bar...bull bar..bear bar bull bar...bear bar. Plus from that bull bar BO of the top of the range within 5 bars it was back in the range. So, I am short 9 contracts. I exit all those short to capture 19.25 pts giving me a total of 29.75 points over a period of about 1.5 hours. What I did on that short trade was double on previous position. This a trick to get out quickly with a profit even if I were to lose on my first and second entry I would make up for it on by exit on the 6 contracts. I needed to get out as visitors just arrived. Anyway, as it ended up all three short entries made money. Even the initial entry.

If my premise hods (that the BO will fail) and the contexts warrants it I often will double up on my position size up to that point. Then I can usually get out with a profit pretty quick. I won't average down and double up on just any trade. The context has to be right. If it had kept going against me I would have to just get out, take the loss and go long 18 contracts to get my loss back quickly.

So, these 2 trades were winners and captured 29.75 points (look on the DOM - DPL..daily profit or loss)

There are a few lessons to learn here.

    1) I had a chance to get out of my first two entries short on that bear bar at (12:20) the one after my second short entry. But guess what? I got up to get some water and something else and was away from the computer when this bear bar took place. Lesson: When scalping stay at the computer because you never know when you will have to quickly move a PT to lock in a profit. See I missed this and it went back up and I had to add 6 more contracts. Fortunately, the context was ok to average down with these 6 contracts.

    2) As concerns the 6 contracts. Lesson: If the context supports my original premise (that it is a TR and any BO will likely end within 5 bars and price will head back into the TR) then I can still add. It did so, so I did add. Doubled up. Context and premise are very important. More important than any single trade setup.

    3) To call it an established TR I want to see at least 20 bars sideways movement and I like to see 3 legs up and down in those 20 bars.

    4) Trends in the form of BOs and channels ...the later part of that trend usually become the first bars in the trading range as a channel morphs into a sideways move. But I don't know if it is just a PB or a TR until I see at least 20 bars sideways and preferably (but not always) 3 legs up and down. It was at the bottom of that 5th leg down where I made my long entries. Count the legs in the rectangle.

    5) In TR behavior we will likely see overlapping bars and dojis. Look in the gray rectangle and you will see a lot of that.

    6) I grab what the market gives me and do not worry about what happens later on. Should I have held for a bigger move? As a scalper I don't allow myself to fall into that trap. I have seen too many times the market gives me a decent profit and I don't take a decent profit but have gotten greedy holding for more and in seconds or minute the market wipes my profit out and I end up on the losing side of a trade. So, I have learned to grab my profits when I can. Depending on "how" to market is making the price levels I may go for grabbing 1 point or may hold for 4 or even 8 points. Sometimes more. But a scalper to be successful MUST maintain a HIGH WIN rate. He will lose overall if he doesn't.

Below is a snapshot of the entire session. I only took these trades today. The visitors have now all gone so I can relax a bit. My wife is a people person. I'm not much of a people person, unfortunately. I like a lot of privacy and quietness. She fixed up a dandy meal and all left happy.

One other note: From the open of the session at 8:30 until around 11:15 it was basically a SPBL trend. Then that leg5 south weaken that and after leg5 there was a move up and then price came back down to test low area of the session and finished a continuation of the TR but a tight nested TR. TR within a TR.

I mean't record LOL not video tape ROFLMAO. I am learning how to record my screen and I keep making mistakes. I got 3 minutes or so recorded (thinking I had recorded all the thing) and I might add with live recorded comments as things evolved. I was stopping the mic and video and then turning back on several times to try and keep the video shorter and I guess I forgot to turn it back on and when all said and done I had only record just under 4 minutes. I was disgusted as that cause me to the up the commentaries above. I will post that short screen recording next. I think it only got me up to my first long entry after leg5.

Guys it may take me a while but I will eventually get this recording thing down. Not sure that it is a valid excuse, but I will soon be 70 and it takes me longer to learn new things. They say you get wiser as you get older, but I had rather be younger and a little dumber. I just cannot do the things I used to do. Every darn year it seems like things get harder and take me longer.

    Here is what got recorded.

  5. Your video is private. In YouTube you can make videos public, private, or unlisted. Most likely you would make them unlisted so you can share the link but they won't be displayed in search results.

    Yes, this is the way.

Volpri, a private YT video must have specific members added to a list to be able to view it. That is unwieldy.

Unlisted is the way to go. That means that only users with the direct link can see it, which would be your audience here.

I thought I had it unlisted. You mean you can't see the short video above? Check and see and let me know if you can see it.

Thanks! It is less than 4 minutes as somehow in the midst of recording it stopping...and starting back..etc trying to keep it shorter I somehow failed to record all my trades. Maybe next trading session I will get this down right.
