I have drawn ideas and concepts from many traders …educators over the years. So many have helped me along the way to formulate a methodology for scalping. And I invented a few things myself..LOL

The most influential in my trading is Al Brooks. So if I had to start over I would focus on what he teaches, practice it relentlessly (pun intended) LOL, AND LEARN TO ADAPT it to a style that fits me. I do believe Al to be the best PA trader and educator that I know of and the most thorough teacher of any. I would not hesitate for one iota to focus solely on what he teaches. Unfortunately, most are not gonna wade through his materials (which are enormous and like a university course on Price Action). What he charges is minuscule to what he delivers IMO.

With what he teaches, if practiced, until it becomes second nature, and some psychological concepts and principles thrown in the pot, IMO one is set for life to trade. Until technologies and trading changes so drastically that PA becomes a dead pan, something which will not be in our lifetimes. I think he is the best shot for a trader to evolve into a profitable trader.

You asked so I told. I am not a shill for Al Brooks nor am I Al Brooks. So, don’t go to thinking….
    ROFLMAO.

Very cool. Thank you very much for the detailed reply.

Right now I'm learning a system that is derived from Brooks. A bit more simplified if you will... In any case I suspect at some point (moreso now due to your recommendation) I plan on studying all of his material as well.

I think the big thing I've discovered this far is that you have to be able to identify which context / market structure you are currently in. From there if you have your psych / discipline correct you can take your trades / setups. Obviously that is simplified but yeah.

Be sure to let us know when the Volpri Price Action Mastery Course is coming! I'd pay a pretty penny for that one.

  3. I agree it is beyond the scope of your thread so I will PM you on this topic.

Volpri, I read this thread on & off, glance through it as I'm not a futures/intraday trader and the intraday price action explanations are of no interest to me.
Before I continue on further, I'll mention this, I highly respect you and have no beef (opposition) to your trading methods.
But on the subject of; "If I could have my time again, relive my trading life", the one thing that I can't fathom in terms if common sense, is the belief in scalping intraday as a way of life.

I'm an old bugger too, and it makes no logic to me to be scalping nickels and dimes along with the huge amount of labor content.

Seriously, I spend my days looking at the market, mainly because I have nothing much else to do, but I can be away for weeks on end with computer switched off and making money.
I tend to think of longer term trading as passive income, where what you do is fighting a battle each day (slightly exagerated) but it's like an ant scurrying around versus a cat or a dog laying in the porch soaking up sun. :)

    Volpri can speak for himself,

but what the hell makes you think intraday traders, scalpers, or whatever type of trader, has only a trading account and no other "investment" accounts or assets?

You are so narrow minded and self-righteous... maybe due to lockdowns in AussieLand.

  6. Like Volpri has said a time or two "it is whatever floats your boat". I have read a lot of your stuff Mickey, and I understand how you trade and you are good at it. Volpri is just on the opposite end of the scale. I don't do the work you do Mickey as I just have long term holds that are for my estate but I am also fascinated with day trading so that is why I learn what I can from volpri.

Welp in that case trading becomes entertainment, but you wouldn't think so with the amount of effort going into it.
No lockdowns and no masks where I am.

Exactly, the point I was attempting to make was why an older generation would want to be a slave to nickel and diming long hours.
No criticism of Volpri, just attempting to understand the mentality.
