Thanks, Ehorn. But I thought Spyder had drawn Channel gaussians, rather than traverse-level gaussians... unless you're referring to the second section, in particular to the last 6 bars.
It is tempting to think such... but I do not IMHO, Spyder provides reference charts for 5M traverse level fractal and also (where appropriate) annotates faster fractals which comply with the sequences.
The yellow section (where he begins to draw gaussians for the faster fractal) is identical. So if Spyder is annotating gaussians on the traverse level, I must be annotating... tape gaussians? <img src=http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=2157703 width=800>
In that case, what I don't understand is the lack of gaussian shift annotations on traverse RTL BOs, or the absence of R2B and B2R on trendline bounces.
Good! A very good question to ask! You are seeing the fractal nature of channels... Now it becomes a matter of resolution and perhaps a question of why as well as what... As a learner myself, I offer a seed for thought: To be able to distinguish which fractal is in operation and its relation to the 3 levels (which Jack refers to often). To be mindful of the immutable sequences (on every fractal). Hint: Price and volume ALWAYS complete sequences (on every fractal). Without providing an answer (you will provide it yourself in time) I will diminish and ask that you retain those questions (I feel they are good ones BTW). Spyder has gone to great lengths educating folks on these topics and I would rather have the current guide address these topics, as he most certainly can provide the correct timing and placement for understanding (if need be). Nonetheless, The main thrust of my suggestion is that I believe Spyders chart is the reference for review. A review against his is time well spent and if/when you note differences... Note them well
A Traverse on "5 min ES Traverse Level fractal" consists of components which if not there create an appearance of a Traverse, while in fact it is not. E.g. all components necessary for "5 min ES Traverse Level fractal" Traverse have been assembled and sequences completed on 14:55 [close of] bar for the last blue up Traverse on 10/31. Which also means that now the market has given permission to seek change. Your gaussians, (which are identical to Spydertrader's gaussians for the faster fractal), are anotated for traverses, they are just not traverses on "5 min ES Traverse Level fractal" P.S. Perhaps, it may be a good idea, for the purposes of differentiation, to refer to "5 min ES Traverse Level fractal" Traverse using a capital 'T', and refer to faster fractal (2min YM) traverses using small-cap 't'
Thanks, Romanus. So there's more depth than I realized. I thought it was simply a case of tapes forming traverses, which, in turn, form channels. I hadn't realized that traverses could occupy different fractals. Having missed the traverse annotation of the blue channel, I assumed that Spyder was referring to traverses as faster fractal traverses, and while I've not been following the IR thread, I had always construed his admonitions for students to avoid 'jumping fractals' as jumping from traverses to tapes.
