technical analysis

  1. You are free to consider anything you choose. However, the market expresses its "net psychology" in the price chart... that's Technical Analysis. Get right with TA* and you'll never go wrong... (Unless you screw up, of course...:))

    Price TA.. KISS, baby!

    * Suggest not listening to the "TA boo-birds"... they're full of shit but don't realize it! I say it this way just to give them "the needle". :)

  2. Sorry but I have to disagree.
    The big difference between TA and Fundamental Analysis is that ""fundies" are free.
    Publicly traded companies are required to publish the data.
    But MOST TA costs $$.
    There is some free TA, but not much.
    And that creates the illusion that TA only works short term (the free stuff).
    i use Stockcharts which offers minimal free stuff.
    But my subscription is over $500/year
    Also creates the illusion the hedge fund managers like to use both.
    But realistically it's just because they can afford the $500/year.

    Not sure how it works now, but used to be that companies were legally obliged to send an Annual Report to anybody on demand. I recall one compamy got in tons of hot water for offering a choice: "Would you rather we send you a box of chocolates, or an annual report?"
    The SEC was not amused.
    The chocolates were probably cheaper for the company to send than an Annual Report.

  3. Geez. I hate to hurt your feelings.. but you are so far off the track that I don't know where to begin.

    Fundamental Analysis... is for BIG players who intend to hold plays for a long time and who are willing to "ride out" whatever negatives until their perception of the play is recognized... "Warren Buffet style"... could be a long time... could be never... could be catastrophically wrong. If you want to be a trader, you need to learn "Price/Chart" analysis. EVERYTHING players know, think, hope, fear, expect, etc... RIGHT NOW... is distilled into their decision to buy or sell. Nothing more important than that.

    Good points;
    not sure ANYthing is free, sure\ not SEC fee\sure not free SEC.
    WSJ , many moons ago offered free annual reports, postage + paper was cheaper then.
    I have gotten some ''free'' chart$ \when she-the printer makes mistakes LOL That seldom happens. Bank will reprint free back + white charts/i usually pay up for color charts:D:D
    Fools gold look$ like brass or gold @ first glance, but not with time or price data;
    dont need charts for that:caution::caution:

    Mr. Scat,
    I know you are a talented trader.
    But it seems you really have not studied long term charts
    (Monthly and quarterly) esp. with certain indicators.
    Fact is, there are tons of TA investors who are "BIG players."
    They just don't go around bragging about how they did it.
    That's why Jack Schwager is so successful

  6. The notion of "long term" when it applies to "market psycho" means nothing. All "long term" breaks down into a succession of "short terms".

  8. TA works on any time frame.
    It can be a both and rather than an either or.
    If your trading method includes fundies, use it.
    Fundies really help me when working with small and maybe mid caps or growth stocks.
    because i dont have an edge on information, price does not lie, and I have found that price moves and then the information is truly revealed. make a plan and trade a plan with or without fundies to each their own. if its an edge use it. keeping the money is the skill set.
