  1. Yes, and we see that Bass is the author. I had mentioned that to surf just prior to his post that referred to Doyne.

From this we know that Doyne, returning from Chicago, finally had the experience of learning a little bit about trading.

Since you know the book you also know that Farmer's first name is Doyne.

They burn a snowman in Zurich using old brooms and sweeps.

I hope that all the answers come forth. Surf will be learning a little bit here and there about how research teams work to get the job done. He doesn't have any examples as yet.

  2. marketsurfer quote:

Here is one example--- a colleague was kind enough to forward this study---thanks
Volume appears to be a primary tenet of TA. However studies indicate that there is NO correlation between volume and large price moves, although TA practioners lean on this old market myth.

so much for "constant volume bars" and other mystical works.
continue to believe the comforting myth or face reality. your choice.
    any questions??

This artice had absolutely nothing to do with Constant Volume Bars so why the the remark eluding that it did? Because this is what Smurf does the best.

  3. Vienna

    Vienna

Aaah... I just had an epyphany... so Surf knows some people with money (which I hope do not know his handle Marketsurfer or read ET), and he tries to find guys that actually can trade or find successfull funds etc. for them...basically running a fund of funds.... hence the anecdotes I heard about him offering to bankroll people on ET who actually can trade.

Now I understand: I could- for the life of me- not understand how he could make a living at this.

  4. You'll find that Edwards and Magee were mentioned on page 81 of the answer to Q 1. Why and in what context?

Rockefeller is mentioned on page 83. why does farmer need to get his act together for these Easterners?

  5. Believe me he isn't. You are reading what a dilettante thinks it is appropriate to say.

Read his interview with Derman. LOL.

  7. Its total bullshit by a journalist turned writer.*

He had previously written of Farmer's roulette computer in the shoe fiasco.

Bass is just another pretender in the book and talking head world of the financial industry.

he is Covell 2 or something like that.

As we all are finding out the three functions of quants are playing out in public. Every one of these functions turns out to be tripe.

*you may find out why as well.

  9. For you it doesn't; for people who think and write critically it does.

  10. Why am I not surprised?

Classical TA predates these by decades. Some would argue centuries.
