Of all of those, addictive disorders are the most fun, although a little of the megalomania can liven up the day too.

  4. I'm in a bit of a conciliatory mood and, after a few moments of thought and reflection, it occurred to me how we can settle this matter in good form as the fine gents that we all are. Being somewhat of a master of the obvious, I propose that we merely modify the thread title. Rather than the current and controversial "Technical Analysis Doesn't Work," let us consider the much more valid and specific "Technical Analysis Doesn't Work for rcanfiel and marketsurfer." At the very least, it is the one title that none of us here can legitimately dispute. And if there are others here who agree with the views shared by rcanfiel and marketsurfer, why, I'm quite sure that we can all agree to add "et al" to the modified thread title and accommodate them as well. And there you have it - problem solved. It's all just a matter of phrasing, really. Refreshments, anyone?

  5. Well, since the TA masses are incapable of generating much that would hold up under industry & academic review to contradict the title (and the replies mostly fall within the original case structure of expected responses), I think it should be renamed:

Technical Analysis Doesn't Work, But Believers Rant and Distract from the Issues.

In deference to someone who suggested it should say something about Classical TA does not work, it is reasonable to consider inserting "classical." Rants and anecdotes will follow, though.

Cognitive Dissonance? Cute distraction, but I see little from the ranters that look much different than the accusations in this direction. I see loads of playground insults and scholastic distractions (like cognitive disorders).

rcanfiel only suffers from ADHD, with an anger component. But I am sure the folks on the other end are perfectly normal without defects of any kind. So again, this has little to do with the issues. I would put my cognitive ability against anyone I have seen here. If someone can outdo a last measured IQ of 158 and an MSCS, I would be. But a person's ability is measured much more by achievement. I am sure there will be a person or two who will demonstrate their stupidity by also playing with these words. I pity this, I am not insulted by it. These abilities are only mentioned against the concept of "low cognition" being played with.

  6. Oh, how the "masses," those great unwashed, do not fall prone at the feet of your vast intellect. Forgive them, for they know not their folly. (And imagine! He has a master's degree!) How you manage to remain composed while suffering the indignity of not getting the recognition that you so rightfully deserve is truly an exercise in character building and beyond my limited comprehension. Oh, the humanity.

  7. About IQ of 158 and an MSCS:

Last weekend, my new neighbour was mowing his lawn. He moved in a few weeks ago and was complaining that his garden was 10 times bigger than the previous one he owned. But at the same time he told me proudly that he uses now a wheelbarrow to empty the bag of his lawn-mower in. So instead of having to go each time to the back of his garden to empty one bag, he now could save 50% of his energy because he could empty two bags in his wheelbarrow before making the trip to the back of his garden.
I told him that I did the same as he did; but up placed a third full bag on top of the wheelbarrow and saved 66% instead of 50%.
My neighbour is a black belt six sigma engineer who worked and still works for several multinationals (Philips, Johnson&Johnson). His specialty is to improve productivity. My intelligence is probably half of what his is, but I did beat him in his garden productivity study.
This is no joke, this really happened.
IQ and university degrees are no guarantee that you will win every challenge.
And someone who shows off with his IQ and/or university degree only proves how dumb he his.

  8. This was provided by those speculating I had "cognitive dissonance" but as I said, the stupid would twist the purpose of it. And you were first in line.

  9. and the second person, who obviously excerpted only part of the meaning why it was said. Everything is this post proves little. I already said it matters more what you do with it.

TA works. I'll prove it, in its most simplest form.

Last trade quote, will most likely be the next trade quote.
