Thanks for the reply, I was very busy day with work yesterday. Households piling into stocks doesn't sound good. There's no interest available on bank accounts these days, so people will look for it elsewhere. I haven't looked at fundamentals, but I always have the news releases marked, because I don't want to be caught in a trade when a big one is released. I'll take a look at the DTs and DBs. Currently just making with trend trades. All of my back testing is done manually from the charts, so takes a while to look at new ideas. If I can get my current simple system up to full speed, I will have more free time to look at improvements and try out other ideas.
He's smart, but I wouldn't call him a genius and he's definitely not a genius at math. Thank you @Harry Butcher I'm just trying to be the best parent I can. With such diverse activities , technological advancements and "kids" becoming independent at such a young age AND with no "perfect parent" manual in print, I can only hope that my actions will be those that will benefit and be the best for him. I hope that will be the case. However, there are many variables; some that will be brought up from his side, some from mine and some externally and those variable can throw a huge spanner in the works . Also, when it comes to trading, there is a "certain" kind that you need to make it. One can have the best mentor, tools etc, but if one keeps fighting with him/herself, then the hope of success drops drastically. It requires a certain eye and I'm quite intrigued to see how woking with a child will be different (as I've worked with adults before - and before anyone asks, I'm not a "mentor" or selling anything). The first few posts address this: https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/teaching-a-5-year-old-how-to-trade.299555/page-6
Great, your teaching your 5 year old to trade, you recieved some feedback and advice... Bravo! I'm sure you're going to give us updates throughout his adolescent years, I think you've accomplished what you set out to do.. End this nauseating thread.
Don't forget, that when he loses (papertrading of course), take the money out of his pocket money, or bank a/c, and hide it from him for later. He has to learn about losing - forget about winning for now - plenty of time for that! J_D
