Now most of the jobs I do are residential and light commercial reroofing and sometimes I'll get talked into remodeling work.
One of my best friends is a principal in a suburb of NYC. He will make almost 150k this year. Another friends wife is a teacher in CT. She will make mid 60's, working September to middle of June with two weeks off in winter, another week off in the spring, and another 7-8 days off in other "holidays". That's about 185 days of work a year. Or roughly 70% the amount that everyone else works. Throw in free healthcare, a fucking OBSCENE pension plan, and the luxury of not being able to be fired no matter how bad you are at your job. Tired of hearing about the plight of teachers. Stop the fucking public unions!!!!
Okay, you aren't guaranteed a job and benefits for life, like a teacher. You are actually engaged in a private business. Way different from being a bureaucrat. Next time you get hollered at for what you get paid, just refer them to me. I'll 'splain thangs to 'em.
Hell no, I'm not guaranteed anything, if I don't get out and hustle up profitable work, my men and their families go hungry, I spend all my savings and eventually go broke my sales reps at the supply house his commission goes down and worst of all I get pissy when I'm not making money. I really like my job, sometimes it's scary but mostly I like it.
