If you as an employee can't follow my orders to simply address people as I want, you can fuck off in my capitalist system - I am the one PAYING your bigot ass, I can do whatever the fuck I want how I spend my money. And ask Kennedy how it doesn't 'fly here', the same principle of 'fuck off it's my money' applies to public employees - you guys have spent decades weakening public employee rights and now suddenly you think you will be saved by them. Tough luck bigot, keep crying.
Only if you consider surgeries and the AMA political, the only person making this political is the conservative bigot as usual. After you guys have lost the public perception battle against gays, now it's all about the transgenders, you guys really need people to hate to feel alive.
I never said that you did. I'm just pointing out that this is an interesting conversation that can be discussed from many different angles. Employers have the right to tell their employees what they can or can't do whenever they're on company time. If the employee doesn't want to follow these rules, they can find a different job. It doesn't matter if you're a teacher from Virginia, or the starting quarterback for the 49er's.
Sure, however we are also discussing the politics of the situation. A person who underwent surgery at a personal and emotional cost simply wants to be addressed according to medical guidelines - but this is too much for the conservative bigots. At the same time, they create new rules to fire people who make a harmless personal gesture to highlight a societal problem. They are willing to take both sides of the debate for their feels that they inherited from a long line of bigotry. As you can see, conservatives in all situations are simply horrible people with no empathy or values - they just want to feel good about themselves by hurting others with their bigoted bullshit. What's the big deal about using the pronoun? What's the big deal in letting people kneel for a minute? Nothing.
Ugh, fuck this asshole, what a pretentious philistine this moron is. This is the same guy goes around celebrating free speech until he doesn't like it and then it's suing time. Just another right wing grifter.
The LGBQT community now claims there are 58 types of gender -- each with their own particular pronouns; eim, eirs, pers, vis, ver, xem, xy, hir, etc. etc. etc. Should any person be compelled by the government to use recently invented fake pronouns when addressing a person? Should they be required to identify all 58 types of gender put forward as part of a political agenda? The answer is clearly No.
But this isn't about any of that - you can have your complaints about the excesses when those specific situations arise - this was a simple case of a simple pronoun to be used for a person who wasn't simply dressing up as you guys call it but even that's not good enough. You are the one making it political by bringing in you perceived grievance in this particular case.
This case is about forcing a teacher to use language aligned with a political agenda. The only language a teacher is compelled to use by educational standards when addressing a student in a school is the student's given name. This is outlined in federal and state educational standards. In fact, most school systems urge teachers not to use pronouns when addressing students to avoid "gender" issues -- which is a policy aimed at being gender neutral in a classroom so girls don't perceive boys as better in science, math, etc. I will note that publications provided by schools (announcements, letters, graduation ceremonies, etc.) no longer have any language indicating gender. This is driven by federal policy. So now you have some twits on a school board firing a teacher for refusing to follow federal policy for avoiding the use of gender pronouns. "Vlaming agreed to use the student’s new, male name. But he tried to avoid using any pronouns — he or him, and she or her — when referring to the student."
