It's just a matter of time until the US breaks up into new countries. At least two, and perhaps as many as three or four. It won't happen violently. The blue states will be happy to be rid of the red states, and the red states will be happy to be rid of the blues. It will all happen quite peacefully over the next 50 years or so.
