All true. It's this mantra of victimization the Left eagerly promotes - embraced by the NAACP - that perpetuates the cycle of endless violence, destitution and criminality in the Black community. Racism is hardly an impediment to success in today's America, like it was in the 60's. Blacks need to pick themselves up, take responsibility, and move forward. Yes, discrimination still exists. And blacks don't have a monopoly on it. Sorry. People from all walks get discriminated against on a daily basis for every manner of shit and that's just life. Physically handicapped, sick, mentally ill, veterans, immigrants, no education, credit history etc. If everyone who got discriminated against made excuses all day instead of pressing forward, doing their best and making their own luck, America wouldn't be America. In fact, the Blacks of the 60's had far more reason to succumb to a life of actual victimization, yet persevered, took responsibility for their lives, and affected massive political change with incredible integrity and moral character.
Life may not be "fair" in an absolute sense, but it can become fairer, and through our own efforts. If you don't believe that, then why complain about, for example, high taxes, when nothing could be done about them anyway?
According to you, nobody is responsible for their actions, because nobody began life at the same spot.
"Fair" is merely a perceived notion and the example of taxes illustrates the point, that no matter what is done with taxes somebody will cry its not "fair". Nothing is nor will be fair, the sooner this is accepted the sooner people will be able to move on from the issue of fairness and stop waiting for the government or anybody else for that matter to bring them fairness.
I did not mean to imply that. I acknowledge that some people who are "dealt" pocket aces still manage to misplay their round, and others do manage to win with just junk in the hole. I actually think more in tendencies, probabilities.
Which is why I hope you'll not appeal to the police if I, through poor socialization, and pure greed, get the drop on you sometime while you're enjoying a walk with the dog, and take your wallet. It's not fair, merely a perceived notion, but hey, I'm younger, fitter, faster, more motivated, and keep my guard up better than to walk my dog. Why should I be denied the fruit of those natural and personally chosen advantages?
Exactly. Immigrants come to this country with nothing, work their asses off, and retire success stories, or millionaires. Citizens with access to every social program, handout, welfare check and subsidized education, still can't make it work because they don't want to work for it. Life is not fair, true. But the ultimate determinant of success or fail IS YOU. The individual. Scapegoating and placating "victims" just makes their problems worse. Isn't that obvious? If you've got a child, do you sit around and cry with him for half an hour because you refused to buy them a toy???? OH GOD. YOU POOR BABY. LIFE IS SO HARD FOR YOU WAAH WAAH WAAH!
