    Sounds right. Actually i have had that or like that happen once@ most any broker. [One time with IBKR also] I would also risk a stamp+ polite like, write them what happened. One time doesnt mean much, especially if thy give you a credit or partial credit, or refund the $400 or give you $200 or $400 AMTD stock.
    15 minutes with a good trending stock or ETF would not cause me to blame a market maker or specialist. I see a very brief power blip about once a year, so brief my back up system never really worked like i thought it would- so i cant really blame anyone on that..............................................................................................

    I can write a letter. I will do it this weekend. Just for clarification, it was they who told me that it was the market maker taking an unusually long time getting back the confirmation. In fact, I was thinking it was my computer settings, as it always seems I have to log in and out two or three times to actually GET into TOS when it is busy. But, I have all the requisite trading specs. It was something we did go over and check on while I was on the phone. Sooooo....I could just chalk it up. But, really, Murray, it is the second time with the slow confirmation.

    I appreciate your taking the time to write me. Your responses have been well-received.

    If you thought the market was reversing, why didn't you just go short? It would have turned out alright either way. If you were naked, you would have made money. If you had a long position, you would've been hedged. Be a flipper for once. :finger:

  5. Ironically these firms who have gone "free" for more business, may have just exposed their own weaknesses on order execution and other fees. Because really there's nothing left to talk about.

    Great for firms like you and IB who were built for traders by traders.

    Common guys, they have a glitch. Probably due to too many people moving over to them. The capacity issues can be easily fixed.
    My benchmark for execution speed is Warrior/Ross (because his strategy is latency sensitive) and he is able to make money trading with TOS.
    None of the brokers are offering any statistics on latencies. Why!? If this is becoming the differentiator, they should be happy to, no?

    Good Lbh ;
    they admitted to partial error+since they choose the market maker, its still partly AMTD. By the way AMTD, + most all the big brokers own a huge pile of QQQ .So AMTD makes $$ not only on the bid/ask spread, but they make money on QQQ charts like money from QQQ $30 area to last eod close $291.07. [IF they don't give you AMTD stock or QQQ or a good hunk of your profit; I would risk another stamp to CEO, real polite of course.] And remind them, polite, a market order/confirmation is supposed to be fast. IBKR has been real slow to answer the phone but seldom has to.

    I understand what you are saying. However, the issue was NOT the time it took to fill my order, but the time it took to tell me the order WAS filled, which did not allow me to EXIT at all while I waited. This is big time costly for a day trade, because we sometimes get in the wrong way and need to be able to flip or flatten. I could do neither as I waited for my confirmation, not knowing I was even filled! Ha. Crazy.

    Talked to TD again today. No help in resolving the issue. They asked the market maker to bust the trade, MM said no, TD says no.

    I'm new and just learning to day trade. I guess it's on to the the better firms at a price.

    Ahhh, your words are so soothing.

    Just talked to TD today. I will try the CEO route. A quick note never hurts. But they were not willing to help in any way today when I called back with well-prepared points presented in a very polite manner.

    Strange pattern the higher you go , like CEO, the more they can do. Also i would note we want to settle without getting SEC involved, market orders are supposed to be quick/QQQ real polite again.
