they keep talking about History, and The Fall of the Roman Empire. The Romans got over extended Militarialy, and then they devalued their currency. Yet, there it is, still existing. Many go there each year just to look at things and eat the food. If we collapse like Rome did, how will that be bad? If the euro goes to parity, I might even move there.
Rome may have been alright but the rest of the empire turned to hell for about 800 years. In fact the level of output produced in the roman time was not matched again until the 19th century. So it had a huge impact.
I am all for flat tax, but there are so many with a vested interest in that never going forward. Think of how many lawyer, accountants, CPA's, and business that are rich off the dysfunctional tax system we have.

No President has that much power. US has not changed much in the last 10 years- GDP is great as it normally is, and the whole financial crisis had a GDP slump of only a couple percent. And we all think we have problems? Obama's socialism is overblown, but I agree he is a dumb black poor ass, but so are allot of politicians. The feds stake in GM is there to save jobs and help unions, not to take over industry. The fed would rather to sell GM now if it was up, but they are too stupid to cut losses. He is not a socialist, just a black minority democrat academic. Workers?..... yes unions are so recent. Not- they have been around forever. America is made of a large majority of workers, few entitlement dicks are here. Even the spooks in the Bronx would rather work than receive entitlements. Nothing in the US is "headed for the hills"..........
Whenever there are significant changes, somebody gets the hose. If we persist in trying to work out a solution where "nobody gets it", no change will ever take place. What needs to be done is that which is best for the country as a whole... and whomever "gets it in the neck" will just have to lump it... or there will never be constructive change.
