I was watching Lou Dobbs on FBN, and they had an economist from a rightwing think tank make a mind boggling claim that tax revenue was up 26% over the last two years (if I heard him correct.) Is this true? I wouldn't even know where to go to verify it.
I found this link, but don't know how to interpret it www.usgovernmentrevenue.com/total_2007USrt_13rs1n
Below link is to growth in Federal receipts: http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/graph/?id=FYFR If you scroll down and make the Units percent change from a year ago, you'll see that Fed receipts are up around 5%. So I don't know what this guy might have been referring to. Maybe if you throw in an average of all state and local taxes? Nothing easily available online for that, that I can find.
