Except she survived 2008 and there were a couple of other similar events in that 7 years, and she is still kicking...

I am not saying you are theorethicly not right, I am saying practically she has been...

  2. I'm not sure what makes you think she "survived" 2008. There is no evidence of that anywhere.

    a) She's never released a track record to anybody publicly.

    b) She herself said she was only trading her own money back then, which was a small account, and with no formal trading strategies or systematic rules in place.

So no track record, and she didn't raise money and launch her fund until much later, and yet you're sure what she did in 2008?

The whole Karen the Supertrader thing is perpetuated exactly for this reason. It's the keyboard warriors of the world that are spreading her legend. Literally NONE of her legend has come from her or any statements she's released.

I tried to find track record. All I could find that she has series 3.

How about a Youtube interview with her? Would her words convince you? Probably not. There is a thread about her here, do your own research, I am old and tired but usually right. She mentioned something about tickets to Mexico in connection with 2008.... :)

Also look up the index charts and you will see that there were other small crashes, downturns in the last 7 years and she has been trading her fund during that time. Hint: The 2011 downturn was much bigger in % than this year's....

You could also contact Sosnoff, he is the one who is spreading the legend....

Edit: There are 2 pretty long threads discussing her and her strategy, here is a quote from me from 2012:

"Last year (2011) she made 53% and the only down month was August by -4.5%.

Now last August was when the market tanked a decent amount, I think the max. down was -14%, but later bounced back. So being down only -4.5% shows that her money management is excellent. Although the real down from the 1st of Aug to the 31st was only -6%. (tanking started in July and the bounce)"

But is is all just words. As a CTA if she would post AUM and performance publicly it would be quite credible, but none exist.

Sosnoff also stated he wouldn't invest in her fund. So read into that what you will

  7. This whole Karen the Supertrader thing is getting downright embarrassing. This Pekelo guy is actually defending someone who has NEVER released a track record to anyone.

Defending trading claims by a trader with no track record is just about the fastest way to announce to the world that you yourself have no clue how this business works.

I can't for the life of me figure out why a single person who claims to be a trader would ever defend such a non existent argument. I can't be more clear than this.

Karen has not released a track record, FULL STOP !

Until she releases proof of trades, everybody in the world should automatically assume she's never made a trade before.

But but but wait, she mentioned tickets to Mexico... LOL :)

I couldn't fail to notice, that you didn't really have any argument or evidence against her, except the "no proven track record" argument, what is actually correct, if we think of her as an outright liar. But anyway...

Nothing like killing the messenger. This Pekelo guy is taking her side out of sheer fun. I find it extremely funny, that in the hedge funds' male dominated world there is a grandma who literally blows away most managers' performance. She might be phoney, but until she is proven as such, I will keep defending her just to piss guys like you off.... :)

Also there is a Yahoo group where they have been live testing her strategy for years now. I understand you are lazy, but you might want to take a look. Now go and enjoy your life, as I do....

  9. And after saying that you're still talking? As I said, that says way more about you than it does her.

She has no track record, FULL STOP ! I'm sorry did you need more evidence than that? lol. We know as much about her recipe for banana bread as we know about her trading record, which is to say zero on both counts.

About the Yahoo group, that is the most laughable thing I've heard in years.

    a) They don't know her trading system, she's never been specific enough beyond naked strangles roughly 2:1 skewed on the put side and a rough estimation of her time frame.

    b) She's not a systematic rules based trader, she's discretionary and reactionary. It's impossible to re-create something if there are no rules released to the public.

The Yahoo group is just a bunch of random fan boys getting giddy over a non existent track record and a woman who had one good year trading (according to her and only her, nobody has even verified that single good year yet)

I agree with VIXTrader. Track record posted by CTA would a proof to what she is saying. Most CTA programs post their performance. And if they lie, it is a serious legal issue, thus it is most likely credible.

Until she does, it is all a fairy tale. Kinda reminds me of Franz Sohar from Trading International, who was proven to be a fake sim trader.

I wonder if TastyTrade did any fact verification.

Really hope that Karen story is true, since it is a fascinating inspiration.
