They buy 90 billion from China, then they mark it up and send it to us. You’re just a pathway of China to us! Lutnick replied, “We are absolutely seeking reciprocity with respect to things that can be reciprocal. But when they’re importing from China and sending it to us, they’re not.” Kennedy hit back, “You just said that if a country came to you and offered you the ultimate reciprocity, no tariffs, no trade barriers in return for us doing the same, you would reject that.” “Of course, because they buy from China and send it to us. Trump doesn’t boast about his wins. So he’s probably made deals and is keeping them secret. He’s so humble. That's right , you will not even hear him speak about how our great first lady is building a crypto platform in the Middle East or how his sons are building condos and golf courses in Qatar and Dubai , and Abi Dabi. That's how humble he is.
I think this just shows Lutick is just incompetent at expressing a message or providing a clear response. Wht he should have said from the beginning is that Vietnam's trade imbalance mainly comes from Chinese goods being funneled through Vietnam to avoid tariffs in the U.S. on Chinese goods (this is why a large portion of their candle making business was shifted to Vietnam). So Lutnick should have said they are looking for a reciprocal trade deal on Vietnamese origin goods but want safeguards in place to avoid Chinese origin products moving through Vietnam to China. However as someone heavily involved in international import export this is impossible because what happens is parts are shipped to another country and then put together and the country of origin is deemed as where it was put together. For example China ships plastics and wood products to Mexico and Mexico asembles it into furniture and sells furniture to the U.S. and the furniture is deemed made in Mexico. For candles, China opened factories in Vietnam and shipped the wax to Vietnam and the candles were made. SO I understand what Lutnick was trying to say but trumptards never know how to speak or sound intelligent and cannot articulate any coherent policy becuase their boss is a rambling idiot.
