“I’ve made 200 deals,” Donald Trump told Time Magazine in a wide-ranging interview published Friday, “100%.” | Alex Brandon/AP The United States has already struck 200 trade deals, President Donald Trump said in an interview this week — but he refused to say with whom. Trump’s comments come just two weeks after he announced a 90-day pause on most of the sweeping global tariffs he imposed earlier this month to allow time for trade negotiations with hundreds of countries slugged by the punishing levies. Only China was exempted from the 90-day pause. “I’ve made 200 deals,” Trump told Time Magazine in a wide-ranging interview published Friday, “100%.” Pressed on which countries he had made deals with, Trump refused to say, nor did he clarify the terms of the agreements. He added that he would announce them “over the next three to four weeks,” once the negotiations are “finished.” “Now, some countries may come back and ask for an adjustment, and I’ll consider that,” he said. Trump’s trade adviser Peter Navarro said earlier this month that it was “possible” to sign 90 deals during the 90-day tariff reprieve, but the administration has so far yet to announce a single trade agreement. Given there are about 200 countries in the world, and assuming every purported deal is with a different country, Trump would need to have negotiated deals with just about every nation on the planet. Vice President JD Vance traveled to India this week, where he said the Trump administration and New Delhi are “hard at work on a trade agreement.” Vance claimed he and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “made very good progress.” Talks are also underway with Japan, though Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba told his parliament this month that Tokyo would not capitulate to American demands simply to “conclude negotiations swiftly.” Comparing the U.S. to a “department store” and countries as customers, Trump told Time Magazine he would be uncompromising in trade negotiations. “And on behalf of the American people, I own the store, and I set prices, and I’ll say, if you want to shop here, this is what you have to pay,” he said
The clown is also saying he will complete the trade deals in three to four weeks. Trump Sees Trade Deals Getting Done in Three to Four Weeks https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-sees-trade-deals-coming-110024100.html

Trump Caught Red-Handed Lying in Crazy ’200 Deals’ Interview He makes these one-sided posts on his social media platform , and call them 'deals' then he expects world leaders to come kiss his ass and sign. Who runs a country through social media? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Late!' Trump complains Zelensky dragging feet on 'very important' deal According to Trump, Zelensky is dragging his feet. " Ukraine, headed by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has not signed the final papers on the very important Rare Earths Deal with the United States. It is at least three weeks late," he wrote on his TruthSocial platform. Hopefully, it will be signed IMMEDIATELY. Work on the overall Peace Deal between Russia and Ukraine is going smoothly. SUCCESS seems to be in the future!"
Trump really isn't getting anything done and even if he does the correct question would be what on earth was gained by anyone by the chaos. I keep mentioning the NA auto sector because they are in an impossible situation. But we could soon see severe disruptions in things like the big IT companies and US farming. Even if he manages to cobble together some deals, he's really messed up US trade for years regardless, and you will lose some customers for the exports you do make. The best move would be to impeach him now but we all know the Republicans don't have the sense or balls to do so.
It's pretty clear that these tariffs are one of the dumbest economic policies in the history of the country. It's going to cost Republicans politically in 2026 and has completely changed the game for 2028. By change the game, I mean even AOC (who I would give no shot under normal economic conditions and I still don't think she'll be the nominee), if she were the nominee could beat the Republican nominee over this. The Republicans could be that underwater over this by 2028. America has benefitted greatly from low tariffs. Other countries use their labor resources to make us stuff. Then they use the trade surplus to buy things like our T-bills to finance our debt? How exactly does that rip us off? It seems like the rest of the world are the ones getting ripped off, because we sold them all that our dollar is such a great/safe investment without actually sending them real goods/services in return for the stuff their people produced for us. Manufacturing overseas frees up our labor to create more value. That's comparative advantage. Job creation for the purpose of job creation is meaningless. What you really want as a country is the ability to collect the most goods/services for your people. For years I have argued that the tax hikes that many on the left want to impose on the rich, because it worked during the Golden Years, wouldn't work today, because of the rise of foreign economic opportunity. The same is true for these tariffs. America will never go back to being the manufacturing power it was, because a lot more countries are capable of manufacturing, and they can do it at a much cheaper cost. Unless we gain a massive edge in robotics to replace human labor or lose our status as a developed economy (which might be happening with these policies), we will never be an exporting powerhouse for finished goods again, because other places can do it much cheaper now. Furthermore, manufacturing is not where we need jobs. We need jobs in the trades. We need to build/repair more housing as there is a shortage. We need to modernize our infrastructure so people spend less time traveling from point A to point B and lower energy costs (I'm a fan of nuclear). If 2 people are entering the trades for every 5 people retiring, where are we going to get the workforce for all of this manufacturing? We also need more jobs in healthcare with an aging population and its a sector that has seen massive inflation for decades. We already have a massive labor shortage in many key areas and need to increase immigration to fill them. This is where inflation has occurred since the pandemic. Notice how inflation has not hit TVs or shoes hard (it's been deflation in the case of the TV) and notice that we don't make them here, nor should we want to make them here.
