What would she charge the grocery store to sell their products in her shoppe?

Ah yes, the intellectual figure-eight. He started by demanding to know what the grocery store would charge her to sell her goods, now he’s pivoted to asking what she would charge the store to sell their goods in her business, which makes no sense in the analogy either.

This is classic circular confusion wrapped in false equivalence, topped with a touch of performative confidence. He’s just moving the goalposts, not to score, but to make it look like there’s still a game being played.

It's confusion all right, but maybe not "circular", since it does not actually answer, even indirectly, the question.

Exactly it’s not even circular logic because that would at least imply he’s attempting to complete a loop. This is more like a logic cul-de-sac, confidently driven into, loudly declared the destination and then refusing to reverse out.

He lacks the intellectual capacity to hold the entire thing in his head. Trade imbalances and mounting government debt are not two sides of a coin.

(As simply as Trump has presented it)

The Chinese have a lot more to lose. What they should realize is the US is the world's number 1 customer. So, the US spends over $1 trillion each and every year. Most items now sourced from multiple countries. Why do you think Vietnam, India, Cambodia are all trying to sign a trade deal with the US now? They know they can take China's place selling the same products for less. They win, China loses. Canada is another country run by stupid politicians. They export 80% of their products to the US which the US can buy from other countries? So, engage in a trade war or strike a trade deal?

One only has to look at numerous You Tube videos how things are going in China. The answer is not so good. Lots of layoffs and the employees are being stiffed, not even paid by their employers. A lot of fresh graduates are without jobs. They end up delivering food to somehow survive. A trade war with the US will hurt China big time. Of course, the communists will never admit it. They cannot save face if they do. So, when a trade deal happens, they will spin it as a fair deal, win-win for both countries.

The Chinese will cave in but, hold out to make it seem they are not fazed by these US tariffs. Why are the Chinese agitated if they are not being hurt by these tariffs?

The world market is far bigger then the US market oh clueless one. Get ready for some serious pain Americans. Canada had a trade deal Trump reneged on it. A deal he signed. He started the trade war with no winners but the biggest loser will be Americans.
