Tariff changes: How is Trump able to raise them so easily?

...recent China increases, today Mexico... is there no check on his power to raise/lower tariffs?

His tariff increases are ultimately messing with supply chains, sending us into a “faux” bear market.

I heard some vague reference to a 1978 law that gives him unilateral power over tariff increases. Anyone know anything about this?

    Thx, Keith :^)

International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 allows tariff powers during a national emergency.

Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917 allows tariff powers during war.

Trade Act of 1974 gives him unilateral tariff power in general.
