  1. "... I can assure you they'll wonder about that decision if all of a sudden you've surprised them with a 2" .357 magnum."

Yeah, but what can you hit with THAT? (Of course, you might scare the shit out of them!)

    :D

  2. Though logical, never felt that concern fishing a stream in Colorado... however, I've fished Alaskan rivers... now THAT'S a different story. You're just "asking for it" to go tromping around the bush without a firearm. The brown bears would just as soon eat you as eating a caribou if they get the chance.

Whereas you, are likely a total clown in person, as opposed to your half-baked online per-....er...never mind. There's likely no difference.

Oh yes, I've heard in Alaska, concealed carry requires no permit lol, and EVERYONE fishing streams carries a firearm. Usually a big one! When I hike around in northern CO, I like to carry my Glock .45 and of I can, a shotgun. Mountain lions usually see us, and we don't see them. Scary!
Btw scat, Fox News just ran a story about a restaurant in CO where all the waitresses carry guns (sexy!), and the customers are encouraged to come in carrying. Shooters Grill, in Rifle CO. Next time I'm there, I want to go eat there of the drive isn't too far. Probably won't have a sidearm due to not being a resident, but can imagine no one will be robbing that place LOL!

Most gunfights occur 7 yards or less according to the DOJ, but in actuality, it's much less. LAPD says 10-11 feet, and the one I was in as a LEO was about 9 feet away. Oh yes, a 2" .357 mag will get the job done all day long. Problem would be muzzle flip for a female. For most gals, I'd recommend a hammerless .38 or charged (meaning one in the pipe) .380 auto. They make some purses that are made to conceal a pistol, and have a "quick draw" feature. You could set your Wife up with one of these, and she'd do we'll with it: http://www.thewellarmedwoman.com/the-concealed-carry-purse
Oh yes, there are "high fashion" purse holsters out there, but being your wallet. $400 for the "girly-looking," fancy stuff. If she's not into all that bling, you can get away with much less $, and still have top quality.

Man Robbed In Target Parking Lot By 3 Armed Suspects Days After Retailer Announces New Gun Policy

A man was robbed at gunpoint by three armed robbers in the parking lot of Gainesville, GA Target department store. The robbery comes just days after the retail giant asked law abiding gun owners to leave their firearms at home (although the retailer did not outright ban firearms from their stores).

It’s unclear if thieves are catching on and targeting businesses that discourage law abiding gun owners to carry firearms, but it would not be surprising given the amount of media coverage these corporate decisions are getting.

Fortunately, in this case, no one was hurt and police we able to catch the suspects in short order. According to the The Gainesville Times,

Xavier Holland, 21, Zaccari Goudelock, 20, and Kenneth Loving, 17, were arrested later that day. The victim, Kyle Bledsoe, reportedly had more than $500 cash on him.

“Officers were able to locate the suspects on Azalea Drive, and with the assistance of Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies they were able to detain all three suspects,” Holbrook said Monday.

One of the firearms used in the robbery was recovered by police. I guess these would be robbers chose not to honor Target’s request about firearms carry.

Target asked its customers not to carry firearms into their stores in a statement released last week. However, the store did not ban firearms, as clarified by the following statement made to The Columbian,

Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, said the retailer will not post signs at its stores asking people not to bring guns inside. “It is not a ban,” she said. “There is no prohibition.”

She said the company decided to make this statement after hearing from people on all sides of this issue.
