Oh my gosh, I was wrong – go figure! What an ass I am, for making such a bold call – or am I?

Go on, admit it – you wanted me to be wrong. You wanted me to make a fool of myself, and bomb big time – unless I was correct, and would tell you how I did it. And better still, would tell you again tomorrow. Then you would be rooting for me, big time.

If you are like most around here, you have mixed emotions on the issue. You certainly would have no problem in following the “call”, provided that I successfully and publicly made it available for at least several days in a row – several weeks would be even better.

However, you would be equally as pleased were I to consistently be proven wrong – blowing my account out, and maybe even my brains as a bonus.

This “journal” area is very, very interesting – both in the number of “keepers”, and the number of “viewers”. There have been some real interesting ones over the years.

Hitman’s is one that comes to mind. It was probably by far and away the most popular. It more or less dealt with trading – kinda – but was really a never ending saga of an impossible love affair with a girl he called The Princess. In fact, it continues to this day on another board.

Remember 40yotrader? It’s a good thing that this is but an “electronic” community, otherwise fistfights would have broken out between the believers and nonbelievers of this absurd “journal”. No doubt the real author still chortles over that one.

Quah gave us Something Very Simplistic. Basically random trades – but with a large following of true believers.

And there were any number of heartbreaking, sincere, honest to God heartfelt true life journals, almost all of them ending in near disaster and humiliation. Ah, but for the grace of God... Well, you know what I mean.

There have been a fair number of boastful attempts, filled with bravado – and very short lived. A lot of folks like that kind of journal – it fits the It’s not as important that I succeed, as it is that the other guy fails category.

Many of the past keepers of journals, and even a few of the current, swear that they are doing it to “help” others. I think that’s bullcrap – they do it for their own egos.

Of course, of equal interest are the members who read these things, and respond to them – they are indeed a curious crowd, for the most part. You have your givers, your takers, and the ever popular detractors. To be fair, there are also some otherwise “normal” folks just trying to kill some time.

I, myself, am a “journal keeper” – of sorts. I do it to amuse myself, and sometimes to amuse you. I really don’t read other journals, unless scouting for material. There have even been times when I fancied myself as actually having something to say. The entry I liked best was the one where I suggested that it would be a better world if we were forced to ride around on jackasses for a week whenever we did something really stupid – but I don’t think that too many of you got it. My greatest joy comes from some poor soul stumbling in who really doesn’t get it – but that’s another story.

Man, what a tough crowd! What do you people want? Blood?

    So I made a bad call...it happens.

You could have closed the trade at 4PM for a point – one trade, one commission.

It really wasn’t all that bad. I suggested buying the first hour’s low, and holding for a retest of the first hour’s high. But you want 5 “technical indicators”, and a lot of double talk – serious trader talk

    What a bunch of bullshit.

Do you know how far below the first hour low the market is likely to go before reversing? Do you know the odds of the high being retested? That’s what trading is – not prepackaged indicators and a lot of pseudo intellectual discussion about the so-and-so confirming the whatchamacallit, along with a positive whatever. Combine that with real honest to god money management, and maybe, just maybe you might stand a chance.

I’ve got a hunch that you’d like to know (i.e. you’d like me to tell you how far to let the market run beyond the high or low before you know that you are wrong).

Do you have intraday charts available? Then study them, and stop looking for shortcuts – you ain’t gonna find any here – in this journal, or any other.

    STOP THE PRESSES!

    40yotrader reappears!

After a nine month absence, the journal keeper known as 40yotrader unexpectedly resurfaced today. ET members rejoiced, and were heartened to learn that in his absence the once popular journal keeper has been cleaning up in the market place. 40, as he is known to his friends, reported consistent monthly profits, some in the five-digit range, since he started trading last November.

But all was not wine and roses. Last December showed a negative result, causing concern and doubt that not only resulted in a $6,000 loss, but one of his famous manly cries.

With the recent banning of Jack Hershey, many veteran ET members had grown unhappy, and rumblings of the message board’s demise were uttered wide and far. But the unexpected return of 40yotrader has given hope to the legions of desperate would be traders nursing hemorrhaging accounts.

In his brief return, 40 failed to mention if his relationship with his mother-in-law had improved now that he is making big bucks instead of foot-long subs. Nor was there any accounting of how he is able to haul in large profits with a volatility based breakout system in a low volatility market environment.

With his return, and reports of success, detractors were left with egg salad on their faces. A new thread entitled “Is it possible to trade and lose weight while eating nothing but Subway sandwiches” mysteriously appeared in the Chit Chat section, but informed sources tell us that it is just a coincidence.

While 40 did post at least two messages on the highly respected board, he informed his loyal supporters that his return would be short-lived. He said that he would be returning to the underground world of the lurker, while working on yet another wildly profitable trading system.

  5. Yea tampa but you forgot Jack's "journal" of which you became a willing sheeple. Tampa are you still a loser? Are you too loser to admit it? I'm a loser. Are you?

    My Dear traderkay,

It is with a heavy heart that I find yet another “flaming” post from you. I shudder to think of the number of serious minded traders, such as myself, who have deserted ET because of your never ending pointless attacks.

But because of my good nature, and in the hope of rekindling interest in my popular chat room www.tradingwithtampa.com (up over 3,641% YTD), that I will address your off-topic post.

It is true that I did traverse the Hershey Highway, be it only briefly. As a lifelong fan of the various Hershey chocolate products, I was mislead into thinking that Mr. Jack Hershey was affiliated with the Hershey Chocolate Company. Upon learning of the deception, I cutoff any and all contact with the charlatan, and directed my solicitor to file suit to recover the $48,651.50 I lost following Jack Hershey’s convoluted trading methods.

It was a mistake that could have happened to anyone – and especially a chocoholic, such as myself. I trust that the above answers any and all questions related to your untimely post.

I would also be remiss were I to fail mentioning your suggestion that I am an unprofitable trader. Even a casual reader of this journal would know better.

  7. Just a point on the original intent of this thread. Has anyone else noticed that "short skirts" are not working as well latelly? The concept has become so well known that it has reached the "fade it" stage, I guess.

Not quite, easy. When you are dealing with daily ranges of 7 to 10 points, you ain't gonna get a lot of 3+ point continuation moves off of bull/bear flags.

Of course had you not foolishly allowed your subscription to www.tradingwithtampa.com to expire, you would have had a valuable heads up on that.

If you renew within the next 9 hours, you can take off $5 from our already low monthly fee of $2, 333.00 - SO DON"T DELAY!!!
