I think you will find that I said I was quite capable of pulling out a half to three quarters of a point with reasonable consistency - it ain't all that hard. But a two point loss kind of makes it a pain in the ass, and frustrating. Nowhere will you find that I said I made great money doing so. I resent the misrepresentation, and resent the implication that I lied. I have no reason to mislead you, or anyone else on this board. If you think that I do, it must be because you have a higher opinion of yourself then is warranted. This journal is intended mainly to amuse and entertain you.
Or you could just PM me . . . Incidentally, I've been reading your posts today. You're on quite a roll. Good job. --Db
I tried that, and people not only complained, but I got a virus, 2 Trojan Horses, and 5 death threats by return PM...
A few pages ago I told you a story about how I stumbled on a method of trading planetary conjunction times. Now I understand that with some of the stuff âpublishedâ in this Journal you may have dismissed the tale as just more of my bizarre attempts at humor. But it wasnât â every word was true. Of course there were no replies, no PMâs, and no e-mail inquiries â just silence. Thatâs O.K., Iâm not offended, The story, and the method the story spoke of would seem to be pure nonsense. Yet I wonder how many of you have gone off on wild goose chases following other pure nonsensical dreams? Take W. D. Gann, as an example. Have you ever read any of his work? I will admit to having spent several thousand dollars on various courses, books, and software packages over the years. Well of course I am ashamed to make such an admission, and no, I do not utilize any of it in my trading today. But it was interesting reading. After perusing the board this morning I see any number of references to Gann, and other âoff-the-wallâ methods/theories being spoken of â they just never seem to go away. We all secretly want to believe that there is some mystical explanation for the otherwise seemingly unexplainable market action. The more sophisticated among us will call bullcrap on such a thought. I number myself as one of the more sophisticated, since I do not subscribe to any religious, mystical, super-natural, or spiritual beliefs of any kind. But I am just as baffled by the apparent unpredictable nature of the market as you probably are. Wouldnât it be nice if there was some kind of heretofore-undiscovered secret explanation? Wouldnât it be nice to think that there really is predictability in the markets, in our very lives? Answers for the unanswerable? Iâm sure that all the Gann nuts, and all the others are just crackpots â arenât you? Of course there still is that story I told you a few pages back... Nah, there ainât nuttinâ to this natural law crap â is there? Damn, I wish I knew â knew for sure.
Why would you be ashamed of taking those courses? I have read of a number of people using astrological methods making money. I suspect that it is their money management that makes money for them but who knows. As long as you are consistent with risk and money management you can probably cut cards for entry and make money.
Look at that Atkins diet. It makes no sense why a diet full of all-you-can-eat steaks, bacon, eggs, and other "unhealthy" food can work but I know people who've lost weight (dramatically) and have kept it off too. Now there are a lot of studies coming out in support of this previously maligned fad diet. Why does it work? Who knows? But it does.
I once lost $950 while eating a quart of Chocolate ice cream instead of watching my trade - is that kind of like the same thing?
