I will note that the Taliban already appear to be offering some of this advanced hardware to Russian, Chinese and other countries -- or at least to government-related entities in these countries. The Afghan arms bazaar is open -- come and buy the stockpiles now.

Yeah actually they did which is why the Afghans had Tucanos and not F-15Es.

The overwhelming bulk of dangerous weaponry and support materials were abandoned by the US military at Bagram at the orders of their civilian leadership.

Not sure I understand this whole "abandoned" thing by the military. We have left how many multi-million aircraft behind?

Why leave it behind? It takes one person to fly and land these aircraft, especially the helicopters, in an emergency situation. Just to get it from point A to B.

I am not sure I believe these reports of just leaving multi-million dollar craft on the ground to be ravaged by desert scrubs.

It may be cheaper in the long run. The righties will mock it but I’m sure the CIA is working on plans for just this sort of thing right now.

It won’t be long to that stuff is broken down from the harsh conditions in Afghanistan. Oil filters, air filters, radiators, tires etc don’t grow on trees for a lot of this specialized equipment.

We did what now? You may want to recheck where you got we abandoned dangerous weaponry at Bagram. Small arms yes, cars without keys, etc.

This stuff is going to spin into “Biden gave the Taliban nuclear missiles” before too long. Get a grip.

Best bet is to go in and destroy the equipment, The Taliban and rescue Americans, then Afghans and get out. ---Mind you, I would rather see us maintain a military presence in Afghanistan for our national security. We just don't need to nation build.

Maybe the U.S. "leadership" thought the afghans would defend President Cashflow's government with the equipment?:)

  10. Interesting.

At least they are stand-up guys. Not off dancing at parties with Cobert while Americans are pleading for their lives. One is a dem too. I have not heard that they negotiated with any foreign powers so hopefully they did not cross that line. Otherwise they are entitled to do fact-finding in their oversight capacity.

2 Congressmen Make 'Secret' Trip To Kabul Amid U.S. Withdrawal Chaos

Veterans and Reps. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., and Peter Meijer, R-Mich., traveled to Kabul "in secret" on Tuesday, drawing the ire of Biden administration officials.

The congressmen are now casting doubt on the Biden administration's planned Aug. 31 withdrawal deadline.

"As Members of Congress, we have a duty to provide oversight on the executive branch. There is no place in the world right now where oversight matters more," Moulton and Meijer said in a joint statement Tuesday.

Biden Says The U.S. Is On Pace To Leave Afghanistan By The Aug. 31 Deadline
The trip was criticized by an official with the U.S. State Department, who said of the congressmen: "They have chosen to put themselves, our servicemembers, and our diplomats at even greater risk — all while potentially depriving those in need of a seat to safety."

The Associated Press, which first reported on the travel, added that other Biden administration officials were "furious" about the trip.

Moulton and Meijer defended their travel to Afghanistan.

"We conducted this visit in secret, speaking about it only after our departure, to minimize the risk and disruption to the people on the ground, and because we were there to gather information, not to grandstand," their statement said. "We left on a plane with empty seats, seated in crew-only seats to ensure that nobody who needed a seat would lose one because of our presence."
