I really don't think that's the case, at least from the posts I read. I mean if 100's of thousands of people are crossing our borders illegally every month, how can you not agree that is in fact a serious problem? Hey my heart goes out to the innocents down there, its the ones who aren't so innocent that pose a threat to many aspects our way of life. America probably is majority liberal, we're a very generous country, but its this binary categorization of people that's messed up. It doesn't come down to you are either on our team or their team.... pizza-gate and tiki torches or Team AOC.... that's just stupid. I'm liberal in many ways, but I'm also very conservative in many other ways. Why does it it have to be one or the other? That's just stupid and I honestly feel that the MSM feeds that mindset. And you know what the result is? An ever growing divisiveness that will only serve to destroy our country from within.
A couple of points and this is where I will piss you off: 1. person claiming asylum aren’t crossing the border illegally. Is it a loophole yes. Is it illegal no. 2. if hundreds of thousands were entering the country illegally every month - that would mean 2 million people every year at least. But our own population estimates don’t show that at the local state or federal levels. Is the border a serious problem, yes. Big time. We are fortunate in the way a president can use emergency powers during a pandemic and turn the vast majority around. However, this is a strain on the resources at the border. If you ask me, our asylum laws needs to be updated for fast turn around to be the norm. So that this way we can have a 90% turnaround rate no matter if an emergency or not. We are certainly a majority liberal country. Are we “generous”, no. We live in a country where the big scam is that if you get something from the government and you’re rich, you’re extolled as a genius but if you’re a working family or poor and you get something from the government you’re an object of ridicule and shame. Providing for early child education and care is not generous it’s basic government function in the west. Credits to offset food and housing is normal life in most other western countries. So, no, we are not generous unless you are talking about to the wealthy and corporations- who actually have the status of being a person in America. Which is absurd on its face. What it comes down to in America is culture wars have replaced common sense. Of course working people could use some relief and of course corporations should not be paying zero taxes - this is common sense stuff. People should treat themselves and their families like a corporation. Lobby the government for what you want and get it. No one seems to think it’s a bad idea to cut taxes on millionaires and billionaires so why is it a bad idea to give working people tax credits for childcare or food or housing. It’s all the same.
Just remember that last week we got a stern lecture from Psaki cautioning us that the Americans and others were most definitely not "stranded." So I hope those of you who are getting paid to post will not go off script. It takes a pro here to stay with the party line. We know you can do it. They are not stranded. Taliban Allow 200 U.S. Citizens to Evacuate, Al Jazeera Says (Bloomberg) -- The Taliban have allowed for 200 Americans and other civilians to leave Afghanistan on chartered planes from Kabul airport, Al Jazeera cited an unidentified official from the group as saying. The U.S. citizens and Europeans will leave the country on Thursday afternoon, according to the Al Jazeera report. Western countries have said that any engagement with the newly-appointed government in Afghanistan would depend on several factors including allowing safe passage out of Kabul. There were no further details on the evacuations.
